Apple Cheesecake Recipe

A Sweet Bite of Eden!

When we bite into a freshly-picked apple, it becomes clear why the apple was the symbol of pleasure in Eden. Juicy, sweet and so comfortingly…yummy! I love the idea that in the Greek mythology, the apple was created by Dionysus as a gift to his mistress, the goddess of beauty, love and pleasure, Aphrodite. May this variation of the apple cake make you a goddess in the kitchen as well as granting you a sweet new year!

Of course, I am only kidding… Men love Swiss Army knives, the most functional multi-tool ever invented! And now, they even have a stylish new colourful collection for women, and another one with animal prints like zebra, leopard, tiger and giraffe, with the same great quality and all inclusive with the scissors, nail file, tweezers, a screw driver and even a toothpick.

Five Snacks to Take on the Road

Road Trip Treats that are Fun & Healthy

I just love road trips! And I always try to bring some easy and healthy snacks to keep the whole family happy in the car.

When I was a kid, we used to go to visit my grandparents every weekend. We would leave on Friday after school and get back Sunday evening. It was a long drive that would take us sometimes up to 5 hours (like in the winter…). Luckily my mom always had lots of games to keep my brother and I busy - and best of all, special snacks that we were only allowed to have on the road, like lollipops, bits & bites, chocolate cookies and my favourite: Gummy Bears!

Chef Michael Smith is one of Canada’s most loved chefs, an award winning cookbook author, winner of the James Beard Award for Cooking Show Excellence, and host of many shows on Food Network Canada. I was so thrilled to get to interview him for YMC and get his secret recipe for Chocolate Chip Lentil Cookies. I was totally charmed by his smooth, calm, and deep voice on the phone—I just wish I could have teleported myself to PEI!

So here's the man behind the recipes...

Discovering Bal Harbour, Florida

A dream destination for the entire family

I can’t believe I just discovered Bal Harbour! At only 20 minutes from downtown Miami, it is simply a dream place and such an overall ‘In Good Taste’ location with great hotels, fantastic beaches, gourmet restaurants and amazing shopping.

The other great news is that the city is not only safe but perfectly family-friendly with hotels that range from very, very expensive to expensive and from moderate to very affordable. There are four hotels in Bal Harbour and each of them offers something special.

Where to eat in Orlando, Florida

Don’t let terrible food spoil a magical day!

I was in Orlando last weekend with my family, enjoying the fabulous legacy of Walt Disney and the amazing rides at Universal. Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey in itself was really worth the trip! The ride is exciting and extremely sophisticated in terms of technology! Wow. Even better than The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man which is way up there.

Eight Things You Didn't Know About Your Morning Coffee

Turn Your Morning Coffee Into A Real Love Affair

It is my morning ritual, and sometimes even an afternoon treat. It’s creamy and rich, sweet and comforting. I use only the best coffee grains. My favourite at the moment is New York, from Saecco, ground on the spot for the best aroma. My Italian espresso machine is old, but it still makes the best coffee.

I just love lemons! The color, the shape, the smell, the taste, the freshness. It has been a passion for a long time but I literally fell head-over-heels in love when I discovered the Meyer Lemons. These heavenly citrus fruits came from China and are a cross between a real lemon and a mandarin.

"My mother used to say don’t play with your food, and look what happened" -Chuck Hughes

I have a confession to make: I love Chuck Hughes!

When he opened his first restaurant in Montreal—Garde Mangerin 2006, I was there almost every week. Great food, great music, great people.

It was exactly how I would have wanted my place to be if I had my own restaurant! I am totally not surprised by his success.
