For 10-year-old Hamilton, Ont, resident, Madison Lord, summer took a bittersweet twist when opportunists ran off with her cooler, according to the Star.
Like many budding 'kidpreneurs', Madison's lemonade stand had been doing well, raising about $50 a day. But all that changed when she returned from summer camp recently.
Having dashed into her home for some soap, scavengers in a flatbed truck filled with scrap metal, nabbed her stainless steel cooler.
Said to retail at around $200, the cooler was obviously a hot item to scavengers patrolling neighbourhoods for 'valuable garbage'.
While Madison no doubt learned a hard and disgusting lesson about human nature, let's hope she wasn't left with a bitter taste in her mouth, after local residents and businesses offered to chip into buy her a replacement cooler.
