Don't Ask, Don't Tell Days Are Now Over

US Military Comes Out of the Closet

After nearly two decades, the US Military has finally abolished its Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy which prevented homosexuals from 'openly' entering the Forces.

Surprising that such a decision took so long, but the inherent macho man image of the military obviously dies hard. As a result many previously dismissed soldiers and sailors said they plan to re-enlist.

Still, time will tell whether the repeal will lead to more, not less, discrimination behind closed doors -- not to mention when it comes to promotions.

For now, even the cynics have to concede that it's a happy day when everyone can do their job without hiding their true selves behind a uniform.
