Health Canada has expanded the December 19, 2014 recall of the VIA I470C model child restraints on various Learning Curve infant car seats. (See sticker on the back of the seat for product details.)
The following infant car seats are included in this recall:
Model number - Item number - Brand Name - Manufacture date
Please note that only car seats are affected, not the strollers that form part of the "Lamaze" and "First Years" travel systems.
Transport Canada found that the above restraints do not meet the regulatory head and chest injury limits. During simulated crash testing, these belts may slacken, posing potential injury to infants and other passengers in the vehicle.
No incidents have been reported to Learning Curve or Health Canada.
Customers with affected seats should immediately stop using and dispose of the seats according to municipal guidelines, guaranteeing that no one else will use them. Customers can visit Learning Curve's website for further information.
From June 2011 to March 2014, approximately 6,117 of the car seats were sold in Canada.
