Have You Seen These Rare 'Mono' Twins Born Holding Hands?

They're already best friends

Sarah Thistlethwaite got double the Mother's Day present this past weekend. Not only did she give birth to monoamniotic twins—a one in 10,000 condition—Jillian and Jenna were pictured holding hands following the delivery.

According to an article in CBC, the "mono" girls, who shared the same amniotic sac and placenta, were taken off ventilators and allowed to cuddle with their parents.

"They're already best friends," said 32-year-old Thistlethwaite. "I can't believe they were holding hands. That's amazing."

Born via C-section, the Ohio twins are expected to remain in hospital for several more weeks. Having a mono pregnancy poses risks of umbilical cord entanglement. Thistlethwaite was on extended bed rest until she delivered at 33 weeks.

"It's hard, it really is," said Thistlethwaite. "It was very mentally challenging knowing I have to sit here all day."

Spill it. Were you on bed rest during your pregnancy? How did you cope?

This mom's pregnancy was even more rare—like one in 70 million kind of rare.
