A U.S. slopestyle skier went to Sochi with dreams of bringing home a medal. What he hadn't counted on was bringing home a puppy, or two, or three . . .

According to an article in Today, 22-year-old silver medalist, Gus Kenworthy, shared the most adorable pictures of his new friends via social media.

Sochi is apparently overrun with strays. NBC News reported that the packs of strays faced a grim fatebeing rounded up and exterminated.

“We were told, ‘Either you take all the dogs from the Olympic Village or we will shoot them,’” said Olga Melnikova, a worker at the dog shelter, PovoDogrecently set up by Russian billionaire, Oleg Deripaska.

As for Kenworthy, it's not clear just how many dogs he will bring home. He is currently scheduling vaccinations and booking kennels. Now that's the spirit of a true champion!
