When life give you lemons, if you're Bob Carey, you make lemonade. Pink lemonade, no less. Intent on keeping the smile on his wife Linda's face after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, the photographer began shooting pictures of himself wearing nothing but a pink tutu.
“When Linda would go in for treatment, she would take the images on her phone and the women would look at them and it would make them laugh and make the time pass,” said Bob Carey in an article in Elite Daily.
After his tutu project caught on, Bob began seeking out the most random and funny settings—from snowy climes all the way to Italy and everywhere in between—for his next shoot.
“Oddly enough, her cancer has taught us that life is good, dealing with it can be hard, and sometimes the very best thing—no, the only thing—we can do to face another day is to laugh at ourselves, and share a laugh with others,” he said.
A compilation of his images has been made into a book called Ballerina, the proceeds of which will go directly to breast cancer organizations.
