I love shopping. I love vacations. I love my children, and my family, and drinking wine, and late-night chats, and dinner out with my friends. I love reading, and my favourite TV shows. I love movies, and especially movie popcorn. I do not, however, love cooking. Or baking. Me in the kitchen? Not pretty. I would probably go viral on YouTube if I ever had someone record me handling raw poultry. Or if someone saw me trying to take a metal pan out of the oven without an oven mitt. (Yes, I've done this. I am 100% clueless in the kitchen.) Anything that makes cooking easier for me, I'm a huge fan of. That usually consists of eating out. Or getting someone else to cook for me.
Luckily, my children are looked after by my parents, in-laws, and grandparents during the week, so by the time I get home from work, they're usually fed some yummy home-cooked Greek meal. However, on the weekend, I like to cook, despite the fact that my husband is a much, much better cook than I am.
Anyway, believe it or not, I've never had a slow cooker.
But I kept reading about how awesome slow cookers and crock pots were, and, well, the idea of finally getting one was something I started considering. Then I read Gav's delicious crock pot recipes, and I told him how yummy everything sounded, but the only problem was, I didn't own a crock pot. Being the awesome guy that he is, he couldn't handle the fact that I've never experienced a meal in a crock pot, so he arranged to have one sent to me—thanks to our friends at Canadian Tire. I was so, so excited when I found out, and I quickly started planning the first meal that I would make when it arrived. I was craving a beef stew and bought all the ingredients I needed for the meal. Of course, my husband ended up doing most of the work, but I supervised, so that totally counts, right?

Anyway, the meal? Easy to make and so very good. I can totally understand why people are so in love with their slow cookers now! Of course, what's the fun in enjoying something this wonderful, if I can't share it with one of my readers?
