There are about a million things I want to buy for spring, and every day that the snow stays on the ground, I add one more item to my shopping list in protest.
However, I don't want to break the bank when I go shopping for my new spring things, so I've come up with a list that can help you—and me—shop for great things without spending too much money!
The essential t-shirt: I love these t-shirts by Gap! So many colours to choose from, and they're only $13.00. They're a springtime essential for sure.
J.Crew skinny belt: I am not one to wear belts, but I know someone who is awesome at wearing belts, and this one is only $17.99 at J.Crew! Perfection...
J.Crew elbow t-shirt: I love this bright yellow t-shirt. Can you tell I am craving some sun? How great would this look with a nice tan and a bold necklace? It's only $18.99, too!
Tank Top: It's the year of the emerald, and if you're looking for something more affordable than a ring, why not pick up this cute little tank top from Old Navy? Best part? It's $16.00!
Pretty Dress: I'm in love with this flowy, pretty Old Navy dress. It's one of those dresses I know I'll wear all the time in the summer. It also comes in really cute stripes. For $16.00, I have to have it!
Peasant Blouse: I went to the grand opening of Joe Fresh recently in Ottawa, and I bought a lot of beautiful clothes. Although I am on a budget, it was easy to keep adding things to the pile because of how affordable everything is at this store. This cute peasant top is $16.00 and will look great with skinny jeans and some wedge heels for a warm but breezy night on a patio, don't you think?
Print t-shirt: Here's a shirt for only $8.00 that will be worn again and again. At least in my closet, it will be! This is also from Joe Fresh, and I love it.
Benefits Ultra Plush Lip Gloss: I am madly in love with Benefits cosmetics, and this $19.00 lip gloss leaves lips soft, smooth, and oh-so kissable. It's perfect for spring!
Cute little clutch: I love this clutch from Aldo. It's only $14.98 and I'd pair this bright pink clutch with a little black dress and sexy heels for an evening out.
Jewellery: I love the colour coral and yellow, especially for the warmer months. These earrings and this bracelet from Banana Republic are both on sale for just under $20.00 each. I think that is reason enough to buy both, no?
All you have to do now is find a cute pair of shoes, and you're ready for spring!
Happy shopping...
I have to admit, I have a little problem. It starts with the letter S and ends in the letter E. And there are two letters in between, H and O. Yup, my problem, my addiction, my weakness?
Shoe shopping.
Shoe shopping is quite possibly the happiest type of shopping there is because no matter what store you're shopping at, you're pretty much always going to be the same size. And when you go shoe shopping, well, the choices are endless. I love boots and flip flops and sexy heels and wedge heels and sandals and, fine, I love it all! I also have come to love flats—as a mom of two, I think it's really important to be comfortable while looking sexy and cute at the same time, and I just cannot be running around town with my kids in sexy Louboutins! I'm not Victoria Beckham, after all. Anyway, flats! Flats are great and come in a million different styles and colours.
Here are my current picks for Top Five Flats For Any Budget:
Chelsea Ballet Flat: The Chelsea Ballet Flat by Tory Burch is simply adorable, and Tory Burch is one of my favourite designers ever. I love her shoes and bags and accessories, and these shoes are comfortable and beautiful. I love the detail and the bows. These shoes are $225.00, and will last for years.
Cole Haan Manhattan Ballet: I have a friend who swears her Cole Haan flats are the most comfortable pairs of shoes she's ever worn in her life, and we like to argue about who is right, because I don't there will ever be a pair more comfortable than the Tory Burch Reva flats, but I digress! The Cole Haan Manhattan Ballet Flat are stunning, and come in many different beautiful colours. They have a patent leather upper with an elasticized topline with lacing detail and a rubber pod outsole with Nike AIR technology. And yes, they're comfy and cute and look great with skinny ankle pants and little dresses, too. They're only $158.00. The Air Bacara Ballet Flats by Cole Haan are also amazing and they sell for $148.00.
Casey Nine West: These Casey Flats by Nine West are perfect for the work day, don't you think? They're classy and elegant and remind me of Chanel and the 1950s. I want these flats! I'm in love with the patent toe with bow. How adorable! They're available for $110.00.
Old Navy Ballet Flat: I love stocking up at Old Navy for flip flops and summer clothes, and recently I discovered that they also sell a huge selection of flats, too. The flats come in so many different colours, you could practically wear a different pair of shoes every day! The best part? These flats (so cute!) are only $25.00
Aldo Ballet Flats: These are funky and cute at the same time, and have a little rock n' roll edge to them too, right? I like the colour of these for summer and you don't have to spend a lot on these shoes, either, because they're only $60.00.
Have you spotted any adorable flats that you have to have this spring? I'd love to know where you spotted them and if you have a favourite pair of flats that didn't make my list, let me know about them, too!
Happy shoe shopping!
I'm someone who loves make-up and all things fashion related, and I know a thing or two about when to spend more on beauty products, and when it's okay—in fact, better—to save money on certain products.
I shop for beauty products at Shoppers Drug Mart as often as I stock up at Sephora or at the beauty counters at department stores like Nordstrom and Holt Renfrew.
One item I always shop for at the drug store? Mascara. That's right, the best mascaras in the world not only work amazingly well, but they're ridiculously affordable, too.
Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara: Lately I've noticed my eyelashes are not as thick and long as they used to be, and when I told my mom, she suggested I try her Lancome mascara. Since I'm not one to say no to a new beauty product, I tried it, and was instantly amazed. This mascara is gives your lashes incredible volume. The formula's "black-diamond effect" contains a dual-action brush that has a flat side to so the mascara gets distributed evenly and a rounded side that separates, defines, and lengthens lashes. It really works, and it's an instant eye-opener. It retails for around $28.00.
Lancome Definicils High Definition Mascara: This mascara by Lancome is also amazing and does a great job as lengthening the lashes while increasing volume. It sells for about $27.00.
Volum' Express Falsies Flared Waterproof Mascara: I discovered this Maybelline mascara in the summer of 2011 when I was in San Diego attending BlogHer and it has since become my number one favourite mascara. It is seriously the next best thing to "fake" eyelashes, and the best part, it's effortless. It truly is "false-lash glam with a flare!" Bonus: the Pro-Keratin formula instantly builds volume without clumping. You can pick this up at Shoppers for under $10.00.
Volum' Express The Rocket Washable Mascara: This Maybelline mascara promises "Explosive Volume" and they're not kidding! This new supersonic brush contains micro bristles that helps mascara glide on smoothly, resulting in instantly sleek lashes—with massive volume! This amazing mascara is also under $10.00, so you'll be able to stock up, and maybe buy one for your best friend, too.
