The Hottest Spring Fashion For Kids

Bright colours, adorable styles, and so much more!

The Hottest Spring Fashion For Kids

I know it's not yet February, but we're almost there. Winter has gone by quickly this year, and I have hardly even complained. Probably because I've finally figured out that dressing appropriately sure does help keep you warm!

Anyway, since spring is in the air, (okay, maybe not in the air, but around the corner) I thought this would be the perfect time to take a look at some spring fashion for children. You know I love nothing more than shopping for myself—I mean my children!—so here are just some of the looks and pieces I'm loving from a few of my favourite stores. Of course I'll be writing more about spring and summer fashion for both children and adults as we get closer to spring, but these are the styles that are making me crave warmer days!

I'm also looking forward to checking out the new spring line from Elm Hill Kids in Ottawa—stay tuned for more about that soon!

Gap yellow jacket: We're not "jackets-free" yet in spring, and usually, we do get a fair amount of rain in April, so I thought this yellow jacket was just perfect for spring and for splashing around in the puddles. With an umbrella, of course.

Gap button-down shirt:  This is a classic button-down shirt, in a pretty colour that both my boys love. This is a great shirt to pack for a vacation or weekend getaway!

Gap long-sleeved t-shirt: My boys live in these shirts, and I love the colour orange on children. It's a bright, happy colour, and this shirt will take them from spring to summer.

Gap (classic) t-shirt: A staple in our house—we can't get enough of these comfy, bright t's! Perfect for every day.

Gap shorts: These are perfect for my boys, and I especially love that they're an easy pull-on pair of shorts, instead of shorts with a zipper and a button.

Gap floral dress: Isn't this the prettiest dress? I want to buy it in yellow and bright pink for my little niece! It's the perfect dress for spring, and something to consider wearing for Easter.

Gap girl t-shirt: This t-shirt is so adorable, I want one, too! Gap Kids has a great selection of these types of t-shirts, and if I was a little girl, I'd get one of each design, because there really is nothing cuter!

Crewcuts girls tshirt: I have loved crewcuts (J.Crew for kids) for years, and I think crewcuts makes the most beautiful clothes for children, especially for little girls. This shirt is just lovely, don't you think?

Crewcuts girls dress: Perfect for an afternoon tea... play date? Perfect for an afternoon shopping trip with mom? Perfect for... any occasion? I think so. I love this dress!

Crewcuts bathing suit: I've seen a lot of cute bathing suits for little girls, but this one right here is currently my favourite. And it comes in a variety of colours, too... so why not get two?

Crewcuts ballet flats: Ballerina or not, every little girl should have a pair of adorable ballet flats in her closet. The choice in colour is endless, too.

Crewcuts boys tshirt: I mean, which little boys isn't a heartbreaker, right? I love this t-shirt!

Crewcuts boys shirt: I love this long-sleeved shirt, and I plan on buying one for each of my boys to wear thsi spring.

Crewcuts shorts: Again, I love the ease of these shorts—not to mention how comfortable they look! I think I'll stock up on these because I know my children will love these.

Crewcuts boys swim shorts: I love the bright colour of these swim shorts and I think they'd be perfect for the beach or the swimming pool. From spring to summer, these shorts can be worn every time your little one's go for a dip!

Old Navy shirt: A classic polo-type shirt at a ridiculously affordable price, like almost everything you buy from Old Navy. These shirts come in a variety of colours, too.

Old Navy guitar shirt: For the little music lover in your life, this is the perfect t-shirt! I have to buy one for my five year old because he's totally going to be in a band one day.

Old Navy flip flops: These Old Navy flip flops are only $3.00. And if you buy or more, since they come in a wide variety of colours, they're only $2.50 each. Can you say... deal?

Old Navy dress: This colour-blocked jersey dress would make any little girl look like a fashion star! I love the grey and yellow combo, and I love how comfortable it looks.

Joe Fresh girls dress: I'm in love with this Joe Fresh tulle dress for girls! And it's only $19? Talk about a great deal! I wish I was a kid again... sigh.

Joe Fresh girls trench coat: Every little girl looks simply adorable in a trench coat, and this one is too cute!

Joe Fresh boys reversible t-shirt: For $8, I think every little boy should have this reversable t-shirt in their closet! Perfect for afternoon play-dates, school, and visits to the park.

Gymboree baby girl marina dress: I haven't shopped at Gymboree in a long while, but one look at some of their new pieces for spring, and I was reminded why I loved it there so much! They really do have some of the most adorable clothes for babies and children, like this dress? How could you not love it?

Gymboree girl hot air balloon outfit: The spring line for children at Gymboree is perfection, in my opinion. I love the orange and pink colours, and I love the sweet designs.

Gymboree stripes for boys: Navy blue is my go-to colour for my boys; they both look great in this colour, and it goes with everything! I'm thinking this outfit needs to purchased. Love the stripes and the sunny yellow.

Gymboyree deep sea dude: Since last summer, my boys have become huge fans of swim shirts to wear while they're in the water and playing on the beach. I love that I don't have to worry about constantly applying sunscreen to their backs, since the shirts protect their skin from harmful UV rays. (This shirt is UPF 50+ and provides 99% UVB sun protection.) I also love the fish theme on these swim shorts and top!

What looks are you loving for spring for your children? Do you have a favourite place to shop for your boys and girls? I'd love to know!

Baby Gap Introduces Limited-Edition Peter Rabbit Collection

A timeless character adored for generations comes to life at a store near you

Baby Gap Introduces Limited-Edition Peter Rabbit Collection

My heart is full and my life is complete with my two children. I know I will not be having any more babies, even though I love them so much. However, every time I walk into babyGap, I'm not going to lie...my heart does a little flutter as I remember all the beautiful, lovely, baby clothes I used to buy for my boys. Of course, I still shop at Gap Kids for my boys, but nothing is as cute as the clothes they make for infants. And the girls section? Most adorable clothes I've ever seen!

As if that's not enough to kick your baby fever into high gear, how about this piece of news? babyGap just introduced a limited-edition collection inspired by Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit. Do you remember reading the children's books? The Tale of Peter Rabbit was a favourite book of mine when I was a child.

"Drawing from Potter's mischievous characters and magical adventures, the babyGap collection brings to life a modern interpretation of the enchanting world of Peter Rabbit through imaginative gifts for girls and boys from newborn to 24 months."

The collection includes assorted soft knit graphic bodysuits, bright coloured denim, and whimsical one-pieces and patterned dresses that is sure to give anyone baby fever all over again. Luckily for me, I have a baby nephew and a two-year old niece to shop for. The collection (clothing and accessories) ranges in price from $9.95 to $59.00.

“We think babyGap customers will love the playful designs—from Peter Rabbit’s iconic blue sweater to the whimsical, bunny-inspired patterns – whether they’re looking for a special baby gift or the perfect addition to their own little one’s wardrobe," says Lexi Tawes, Vice President of Merchandising for Gap North America.

To help celebrate the collection, Gap is hosting  special reading series for children and parents next week at select babGap stores in the United States. Gap has also partnered with Milk+Bookies, a non-profit organization that encourages children to donate books to children in need, to host in-store book drives where shoppers can donate their literary favourites for others to learn and enjoy. All books collected through the book drives will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs.

I think the new limited-edition collection is simply adorable, and I think these pieces would make great gifts for your children, or for the children you love to shop for.

Happy Shopping and Happy Reading!

Are you the girl next door or the raven-haired temptress? Find out at a store near you...

Betty and Veronica Take Over MAC!

You guys, I'm so excited! My favourite make-up company, MAC, is bringing my favourite comic book characters to life!

The legendary and oh-so-loved Betty (the beautiful blonde girl-next-door) and Veroncia, (the rich raven-haired temptress) who have been competing for Archie's heart for years, (and years and years) now have their own special make-up line at MAC!

Since February is the month of love, MAC will be launching this new sweet make-up line. How very rertro!

Love is definitely in the air at MAC and I cannot wait to get my Betty on. (Wait... or am I a Veronica?) I'm so excited to try on all the fabulous and fun new shades of lipstick and make-up.

I'll be jumping into their jukebox-joint at a party where I'll even get the chance to take a picture with Archie himself! Yes! I am finally going to meet Archie and I promise you, I'm going to ask him finally... who DO you love best, Archie?

Betty? Or Veronica?

Stay tuned to find out the answer...
