Jewellery is a Girl's Best Friend!

Lauren Nicole Gifts

Jewellery is a Girl's Best Friend!

The thing I love the most about shopping for jewellery is that no matter what, it always fits. Unlike clothes, which can sometimes be not so fun to shop for because you've gained a pound or two and things are fitting tightly. Nope, with jewellery, it's always the right fit. Always the right size.

I love all types of jewellery. Of course, jewellery that comes in a blue box is my favourite, but I also love special pieces, jewellery that has some sort of meaning behind it. When I was contacted by my bloggy friend Heather to write about Lauren Nicole Gifts, I said yes right away because her pieces are beautiful, and they all have some sort of special meaning behind them, because you can create pretty much whatever you want.

From initial necklaces to charm bracelets, she has so many precious pieces to choose from - for yourself (which you totally deserve, by the way - why not treat yourself to something nice?) or as a present for your mother or mother-in-law.

You guys are in luck - know why? Because I am giving away a $125 gift certificate to Lauren Nicole Gifts! Have a look around her site and leave me a comment telling me which piece you love the most, and which piece of jewellery you'd like to get if you won this giveaway.

Back-to-School Giveaway from Blu!

Stylish, Comfortable and Fun Clothing for Children

Back-to-School Giveaway from Blu!

I love being the mom of boys. Little boys are so special and sweet, and with my boys, I learn something new every day. Like the difference between a backhoe and a bulldozer.

However, as the mom of boys I know it can be hard to find really nice and stylish clothes for them. Girls don't seem to have the same problem, you know? I find that we don't have many stores to shop at for children's clothes, other than Gap, Gymboree, Children's Place and Old Navy.

Well, I'm happy to report that there is a new store I am a fan of that sells beautiful and stylish children's clothes!

I was recently contacted by the owner of a fine children's clothing boutique based out of Montreal called Blu. With stores throughout Quebec, Blu offers something different, something stylish, and something comfortable and fun for both little girls and boys. You can tell they care about fashion and about dressing children in clothes that look good and feel good, too.

They sent me some totally stylish outfits for my boys, and I can't wait for the weather to turn a bit colder (I never thought I'd hear myself say that... ) so that they can wear their new clothes!

The best part? Blu has been even more generous, and they're giving away an outfit of YOUR CHOICE! That's right! One of my lucky readers will win an outfit from Blu's new fall line for their child!

What do you have to do? Leave me a comment below telling me what you love about Fall!

My 35th Birthday Celebration

Shopping in Yorkville

My 35th Birthday Celebration

This past weekend, I turned 35. Rather than get upset about turning another year older, I was thankful. Thankful to be 35, and thankful to be celebrating with my entire family: my husband, my children, my parents, and my sister and her family.

I was also so very thankful that we were given the opportunity to stay at the Marriott Bloor Yorkville for the weekend. And not just in any room - in the two-floor Presidential Suite, baby! (My parents were also given a room, and my sister and her family, as well. To say we were very thankful is an understatement.)

When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff, and then once we stepped into our suite I noticed a balloon arrangement, a cake, and a bottle of champagne! I think I said "Oh my GOD! WOW!" a hundred times - it was truly the loveliest surprise, and made my birthday weekend that much more special. That's not all, though. The room itself was stunning, massive, airy, clean, and had huge windows overlooking Yorkville. Upstairs, the children were surprised with a basket of goodies, too - toys, colouring books, bubbles, and yummy snacks. The bathroom on the second floor (yes, there were two!) was incredible. The service was also amazing, and the buffet breakfast? Perfect.

The Marriott Bloor Yorkville is right in the middle of Yorkville, and all its fabulousness. Yorkville happens to be my favourite place in Canada, you know. And yes, it does have something to do with the fact that it is one of the top ten shopping destinations in the world, right up there with Fifth Avenue in New York City and Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles.

Yorkville is "Toronto's most celebrated neighbourhood of style and culture offering a unique blend of designer boutiques, fashionable restaurants, plush hotels and world class galleries... 700 in all."

H&M, Holt Renfew, Chanel, Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Gap, Banana Republic, Club Monaco, Nine West, Aldo, Anthropologie, Hugo Boss, Birks, Hermes, and so many more fine stores are within short walking distance of the Marriott Bloor Yorkville.

There are also many fine restaurants, like Sotto Sotto (my favourite) Il Posto, Sassafraz and Cafe Nervosa, right in the heart of Yorkville, all within walking distance of our hotel, and there is no better place to people watch while you're eating dinner at the fine restaurants.

Of course, since it was my birthday weekend, I did some shopping. I went to Holt Renfew to repair my Chanel sunglasses and got lost in Anthropologie for a few hours, where I basically bought everything I need for fall!  I went shopping with my mom and one of my best friends - we left the men and children in the two-floor suite so they could have their own fun, too!

The hotel is also walking distance to the Royal Ontario Museum, and we enjoyed the visit at the museum very much. My boys can't wait to go back!

As we were leaving the hotel, my boys made me promise we wouldn't stay anywhere else the next time we visit Toronto. I happily agree - the Marriott Bloor Yorkville has it all!
