I always love when I find a new product that gets me saying, “This is perfect! I needed this exactly ten minutes ago!” I was on my way to the World MasterCard Fashion Week tent in Toronto to meet some amazing new designers brought together by Toronto Fashion Incubator and was juggling my purse, while trying to send a business email on my phone while attempting to keep my hands warm because spring has decided it never wants to arrive. My left hand remained happily warm while my right became a solid block of ice – can’t type with a glove on! By the time I got inside, trying to shake someone’s hand was impossible because my hand was frozen. And then what lovely company am I introduced to? Quill & Tine – the smart company creating fashionable leather touchscreen gloves.
Women's Classice Dress Gloves
I have seen some “touchscreen” gloves that claim to enable you to use your phone without having to remove them but they either look like something from a cyberspace movie, or an octopus tentacle – or both. And gloves with the fingertips removed (insert sarcastic chuckle here) do not merit touchscreen glove status!
Women's Driving Gloves
Created with Italian lambskin, cashmere and lambswool, Quill & Tine gloves employ specially engineered leather on the palm-side that reproduces the human touch so users can use their cell phones, iPads and other devices without taking off their gloves. The process to create this function also makes the leather more durable, water-repellent, wind-proof and soil-resistant. Having felt the gloves and looked closely at them, I can tell you they are lovely. Also nice to know – each pair is tested to ensure functionality.

Consider getting a pair for our never ending winter or bookmark the website for shopping in future seasons when even more styles will be available. The line is available for men and women both online and in select stores. Gloves in the women's collection run from $80.50-$120.00.
I am finding The Bay's ever expanding online shop to be really rather fun. The retailer keeps increasing its selection and I am pleasantly surprised every time I check in. My latest "shopping trip" had me taking notes. That's a serious step in the online shopping process before throwing down the plastic. I am particularly thrilled to see how much the plus-size section is growing and my eyes settled on the Dex line offering lots of selection but particularly in fun red, white and black pieces.
I love tops with angel and batwing sleeves as they always flatter any woman and the Dex line has got this feature locked in place. This line is edgier than many others available in Canada at really quite amazing low prices. The tops are on sale for between $21.75 and $29.25 which means you might consider getting a couple! And there is lots of selection in sizes 1X-3X. Check below for some of my faves!
Looking for a fantastic leather jacket at a great price? Ever thought of pleather or, as I prefer to say, faux leather? Ricki’s has an astounding array of hip, affordable leather-looking jackets in a wide assortment of colours and styles. Jackets range in price from an incredible $49.99 to $69.99. And the part I love the most is they are available up to a size 18!
Your basic black is available in 5 different styles ranging from a plain finish to quilted so there is a look for every taste.
There are eight styles available in neutral tones from tan to beige to bone all with different cuts and detailing.
It is nice to find leather looking options in colours not often seen like burgundy and denim. What is particularly lovely about all of the jackets is the cut at the waist with a slight flare at the hip which flatters all figure types. There are many more great jacket options available, so make sure to visit Ricki's website or a local store to browse through all the cuts, colours, and styles!
