Delicious High Fibre Homemade Granola

Forget About Store Bought Granola, Make This Delicious and Healthy Granola at Home

by: Lara Katz

I love granola. Very often store bought granola is high in fat and calories, and I have never found one to buy that I like anyway. This is a delicious and healthy granola recipe. I find that people enjoy receiving it as a gift because it is not a common thing for people to make at home.  What better time to give granola than during the holidays, when people are looking for a healthy breakfast after indulging most nights.  Bring it to your host in a lovely jar to keep.  My favourite way to enjoy this recipe is mixed with yogurt.  I can honestly say I eat it for lunch most days.

Ingredients:
4 cups large flake oats
¼ cup coconut oil (it is solid)
¾ cup real maple syrup
1 ½ cups wheat bran
½ cup sunflower seeds
½ cup pumpkin seeds
1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
¼ cup flax seeds
1 teaspoon sea salt

  Preheat oven to 300.

Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Combine maple syrup and coconut oil and place over low heat in a saucepan.

Mix remaining ingredients together in a large bowl, add in maple syrup mixture.  Mix well.

Divide granola mixture between two cookie sheets and bake for 15 minutes, stir, bake for an additional 10 minutes.

Allow to cool. Store in airtight container.
