Although many people have switched from paper to their phones or computers to keep their weeks in check, I personally love and feel the need for a tangible, concrete agenda in my hand for organizing my days, weeks and months. I feel like I remember things better when I have written it down as opposed to typing it, and studies support this.
Because of my great love for paper agendas, I struggle with which one to buy. I want it to be just right, functionally and aesthetically; we have to work together for a long time! I also start the year with high aspirations for all that will be organized and accomplished so I need an agenda that can keep up with me. I have been researching some great options all the while my January times and dates keep piling up on the back cover of my current agenda waiting to be properly recorded.
Here are some great selections for your stylishly-organized 2016:
How cute is this agenda? With the signature bright colours and beautiful designs one expects from Lilly Pulitzer, this agenda is going to keep you smiling despite having to jot down root canal or jury duty. It has an elastic band to keep the random bills and receipts from falling out, a travel section to keep a well deserved vacation plan front and center, and stickers. Oh the stickers! Organization lovers will get a rush thinking about all they can accomplish with the pretty coordinated stickers!
Another great pick from another well known house of fashion is this agenda by Kate Spade New York. Modern, clean lined, and elegant, this will be a welcome place to get your “to do list” on. It has laminated dividers, monthly tabs, and a pocket for collected papers. So pretty and useful it will keep you from switching up mid year. It happens.
I had this agenda two years ago and loved it. I have a weakness for all things animal print, so when I found it in a day timer, I was thrilled. This agenda has all a mom needs; you can write out your schedule, and underneath it includes separate sections to map out activities for your children each day. It also includes meal planning and helpful online resources. Ideal for keeping corporation family organized.
Classic, compact, my friend Natalie swears by the Moleskine line. She is a Sharpie enthusiast, and this planner keeps her from bleeding onto the other pages. This pocket sized one in yellow is fun and an ode to the upcoming Spring you will start dreaming about mid January.
This looks like a good mantra for 2016! I was recently admiring a colleague's agenda and found out it was from the luxe stationary line Papyrus. This agenda gives a weekly outlook broken into the most used daytime hours.
I remember watching the Kickstarter video for this and falling in love with the many useful features of this day timer that helps you keep your passions in focus. As a therapist, I have recommended it as a motivating strategy for many clients both for goal-setting and keeping organized.
This agenda has everything, including choice. You can pick your between horizontal and vertical orientation and choose your design. This is actually where it gets tricky - there are so many beautiful covers to choose from that you can customize with your monogram or full name. You can even splash loved ones across the front with the collage option.
I bought a MoMA agenda a few years ago and loved the gorgeous illustrations throughout. Every year, MoMA puts an appointment calendar out. For many, this has become a traditional wish list item each Christmas. This year's calendar features typography and lettering from the Museum's collection.
This is for the anglophiles, a little British invasion for your day planner featuring a beautiful print by UK fashion designer Cath Kidston. A little bit of Cath Kidston in your day brings cheer, be it in an umbrella, backpack, shawl or agenda. Small enough to tuck into a purse, it features weekly and monthly views as well as a handy shopping list.
