I get sent a lot of screeners for different TV shows that are premiering but I rarely write about them because there’s not a lot of time in my life to start watching new shows. Basically, my theory is if I wouldn’t watch the show then I’m not going to waste your time by writing about it since I won’t be there to follow up on it. But recently I got a screener for a show called ‘Mario Lopez: Saved by the Baby’, and ridiculous title aside, I thought it was a show I would totally watch - at least once.
It started off with such promise. The Academy Awards, raising eyebrows among most of the general public, selected James Franco and Anne Hathaway to host the 83rd Annual Oscar awards. When they did this I assumed they had something up their sleeve, a bigger reason than just selecting two young stars to host their show thereby hoping to lower the average age demographic that watches their show. An effort to make the Oscars ‘young and hip’ if you will.
It’s that time friends – it’s finally Academy Award weekend! The stars have been arriving slowly but surely and LAX has been a hotspot for celebrity watchers. I am so sad to report that I have failed terribly in my Operation Oscar this year, having seen only 5 of the 10 movies nominated for Best Picture. Even worse the movie that I think will take home the golden statuette is one of the ones I haven’t seen! I have however seen 2 of the 3 movies nominated for Best Animated Feature – go figure.
So about 2 weeks ago I wrote about my celebrity run inspirations and how I was going to try to find different celebrities who inspire me to get my ass on my treadmill at least 4 times a week. My first inspiration was Reese Witherspoon because she’s a mother of 2 and really seems to be a legitimate runner. Reese was an awesome inspiration because she’s fit and healthy really seems to make running her main source of fitness.
Two adult movie admissions - $21.50 Four child movie admissions - $32.00 Popcorn and drinks for six people - $40.00 Four kids at the ever distracting arcade while waiting for movie to start - $10.00 Total amount spent at the local movie theatre with strange kids kicking the back of my chair and missing most of the movie doing bathroom runs – $122.50.
Being able to stay home in your pajamas and watch classic kids movies on TELETOON and TELETOON Retro all day on Family Day – priceless.
I’m writing this at almost midnight because I have come to the conclusion that if I go to bed on the promise that I’ll write my awards show recap in the morning, my awards show recap doesn’t get written. So please excuse any typos or grammar errors as I am tired.
The 53rd Grammy Awards will air live this Sunday, February 13th on CBS starting at 8pm, but you can bet I’ll be tuned it much earlier to catch the red carpet arrivals starting at about 7pm. If you’re like me you enjoy the Grammy awards more for the upsets than for the actual winners! I mean who can forget the year that Christina beat out Britney for Best New Artist?! Everyone though Britney was a lock – but nothing is guaranteed in Grammy world!
Running. I hate it. Yes, I said it, I hate it.....BUT I love how it is such a simple activity that does so much for your body. Or at the very least affords me the option of eating pizza once a week. Really – who needs an expensive gym membership when you have a good pair of runners and your own two feet? I also hate running because it’s just so easy that’s it’s hard to make excuses to avoid it! I prefer my exercise options to be packed full with readymade excuses as to why I can’t do it.
*Sigh*, I’ve been sitting here wondering if I should write this post. I mean, is this really a road I want to go down?! But then I thought, what the hell, of course it is! I mean, I’m all about gossip and if something involves high school and cliques, well even better!
So The Screen Actors Guild awards were on last night, and while I love myself some awards shows, I resisted the urge to tune in and critique everyone’s outfits and see if there are any surprises because I am in the midst of my Operation Oscar, and I have The Kids Are Alright to watch tonight. Plus The Golden Globes were pretty damn fantastic and I fear that the SAG’s will just disappoint me.
I was invited to attend a ‘Soiree’ this past weekend, which isn’t something that happens often around here. In fact, this wasn’t just any ‘soiree’; this was The Bell Sens Soiree, an event that sees the entire Ottawa Senators line-up and their wives/fiancées/girlfriends in attendance. It’s a charity event that benefits various charities in the city and I was happy I would have a night out with pro hockey players and a possible Carrie Underwood sighting.
The Academy Award nominations have been announced, which also signals the beginning of my very own ‘Operation Oscar’! Last year I made it my mission to watch as many of the nominated films and performances as I possibly could, and I did a pretty good job! This year I have my work cut out for me because I have seen two, count that two, of the movies or performances nominated.
American Idol 2011 began its 10th season last night with a few changes. While the previous seasons had some judge shake ups – none were quite like this one. With the departures of both Kara DiGioduardi and Ellen DeGeneres, and of course of Simon Cowell, replaced by none other than Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, we were left to wonder what the new American Idol would look like.
The Golden Globes happened last night and the reason why this Awards Show is so much fun is not only this the first big awards show of the season, but they also serve alcohol throughout, which makes the entire thing a lot more enjoyable to watch! I mean, chances are you won’t catch Angelina Jolie applying lip gloss or Mark Wahlberg rolling his eyes at Robert Downey Jr. during the Academy Awards!
So it’s confirmed – David and Victoria Beckham, aka Posh Spice, are having another baby!!! In a statement released on Sunday their rep said; "David and Victoria Beckham are delighted to confirm they are expecting their fourth child in the summer. Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are very excited about the arrival of their new brother or sister."
Jersey Shore returned to the airwaves Thursday night with the premiere of its third season and of course it didn’t disappoint! The regular cast members that we know and love (and kinda hate) returned to the house and the so did the drama! It started off with fan favourite, Snooki, getting herself ready to leave for the Jersey Shore house, sporting a painful looking shade of orange all over her skin. Honestly this girl takes fake tanning to a whole new level that I thought wasn’t even possible.
