The other day I was online and came across these pictures of Julianne Hough working out with her trainer. If you don’t know who she is, she started out as one of the dance partners on Dancing With The Stars but since has left the show and is now a singer/actress and also happens to be dating Ryan Seacrest. Oh, and she has a sick body.
It’s no secret that I am a Scooby-Doo fan and so are my kids. We religiously watch Scooby-Doo, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo – well you get the picture. When I heard they were making a live action version of the animated series I was a bit sceptical. Normally when live action movies are made of beloved cartoons the results are less than stellar. Fortunately for me I thought the Scooby-Doo movies were an exception to this rule.
If you’ve been reading the entertainment sites (please say you have) you might have noticed that Penélope Cruz and Johnny Depp have been attending premiere after premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. If you’re a Pirates fan you are no doubt thrilled that this movie is opening very soon, this weekend to be exact, on May 20th! And if you’re a Pirates fan you will also be thrilled to know that you can win your very own Pirates prize pack from me!
I know what you’re thinking when you read this title – probably something along the lines of ‘are you f-ing crazy?!’ but that’s exactly what one woman who lives in California did to her 8 year old daughter. She used the excuse that because her daughter is involved in the pageant circuit, and that other mothers do it to their daughters, that it’s ok to inject botox into the little 'lines' on her face. To be exact she would give 5 injections in 3 different places on her face.
I admit, I love watching reality shows. But I'm a bit picky. Not in the calibre of shows (I do love Jersey Shore you know) but in how the show progresses. What I mean by that is the show has to shake it up once and while. I mean once upon a time I would never miss an episode of Survivor or Amazing Race but these days I can't be bothered to watch because it’s always the same.
It is no secret that I seem to have lost my running mojo. It’s actually been gone for quite some time, and I can’t seem to find it. Add to that the fact that my treadmill is broken and you have some very bad news for the size of my ass. If Spring ever decides to show its face around here I might actually try to motivate myself to get outside and go for a run. Let’s not even talk about that pesky 10km race I’m supposed to run at the end of May!
When you have four kids it’s often hard to find one thing all of them will agree upon. Whether it’s what to serve for dinner, what time to go to bed, what park to visit, or most importantly, what to watch on television. My oldest will complain the shows are too ‘baby-ish’, while the youngest will moan that a show is too ‘boring’. But there is one show that all of them agree upon and that is Scooby Doo.
Normally I find myself eagerly anticipating the Easter weekend. The first long weekend of spring, it means the kids are able to run and play outside for much of the four days. And with the sun shining, the parks clean and dry and the kids happily anticipating the arrival of the Easter bunny (and the copious amounts of chocolate the bunny brings) it means I can do my ‘Easter bunny prep’ while the kids are outside enjoying the nice weather.
Are you a fan of those ‘Real Housewives’ shows? I must admit, for all of my love of reality television I never got into these shows. I don’t know why since they seem like the kind of material I would love, but I just never started watching. I kind of regret this since I hear so much about them but I just never seem to tune in at the right time. These shows are so popular that one of the stars of Real Housewives of New York, Bethenny Frankel, has since branched out into her own spinoff.
Back in the summer of 1990, when I was 17, the New Kids On The Block tour arrived at our local Ex. OF course we went. My sister and I, both fully obsessed with NKOTB, bought tickets immediately. I was a Jordan (who wasn’t?) and my sister was a Jordan, but also a Danny. The day of the concert it was pouring rain – it was an outdoor concert. The show went on though, but the stage was soaked. They couldn’t dance – at all. Instead, they chose to use the stage as one big slip and slide – it was awesome.
First of all if you have no idea what the title of this blog means I am just a little relieved. I pride myself on the fact that I am pretty up to date on most current trends and goings on in the entertainment and pop culture world. I mean I pretty much eat, sleep and breathe celebrity and pop culture, so I felt a little silly when I had no idea what the ‘Dougie’ was.
If you’ve been following the saga that is Britney Spears you no doubt know that she’s released her latest album, Femme Fatale, and that she’s been hot on the publicity trail to promote it. The good news is that the tracks that I’ve heard so far are good. Sure they’re typical pop fare, but between you and me that’s exactly my kind of music, so I’m ok with that. The bad news is that in Britney’s video for her 1st single ‘Hold it Against Me’ it didn’t look like much had changed in Britney’s world.
Last night marked the return of Kate Gosselin and her uber-famous brood of kids to TV in Kate Plus 8 where Kate takes her kids to Australia. Now first of all let’s just remind you all that I am firmly on Team Kate. I always have been, and I always will be (well, except for that one time when her and Jon were being just ridiculous!) I mean after writing this Jonblocked me on Twitter!
It’s no secret that I am slightly obsessed with celebrity. So last year when my friends decided to take a trip to Beaches in Turks and Caicos – the exact same resort that Beverly Hills 90210’s Jennie Garth and her husband Twilight star Peter Facinelli took their kids to – I had to go! Of course there was the small issue of convincing my husband, but I had faith!
Cartoons – they’re a staple of childhood. For years Hollywood has been trying to capitalize on the appeal of cartoons by remaking some of the most popular ones into live action feature films. This isn’t an easy task by any means, because so much of the appeal of a cartoon is the fact that it’s based on a world of fantasy, and that world doesn’t always translate well into live action. Sometimes the live action adaptation is good, and sometimes it’s bad, but there are some movies that have done a great job of bridging the cartoon to live action genre. Here are some of my favourites;
My kids are creatures of habit – I think they get that from me. They tend to watch the same shows and movies over and over…mostly because I have control of the remote. I tend to play what I know will buy me enough time to get dinner started or grab a quick coffee in the middle of the day. But that gets very boring after a while and makes it so that I can recite the entire dialogue of certain shows in my sleep. Yesterday Dina Lohan, the poster child for stage mother’s everywhere announced that her fallen starlet of a daughter, Lindsay Lohan, would be dropping her last name and going by just ‘Lindsay’ from now on. Yes, that’s right, just ‘Lindsay’. Dina spoke to website PopEater and told them that;
March Break – two words that strike fear and dread into the hearts of most parents! Aw c’mon, you know it’s true! I drive my kids to school on snow days because the thought of them being home together all day makes my head spin. So, if you’re not one of the lucky ones who get to go away for March Break the key to a successful and fight free ‘stay-cation’ is to have a plan.
The business of animation is much different now than it was when I was little. Heck it’s different now than it was 15 years ago. In the last decade or so, animation has become huge business, with studios like Disney/Pixar and DreamWorks basically re-writing the future of the animated movie. The studios have raised the stakes with animated feature films by ensuring they not only appeal to kids but to parents as well. But engaging the parents is where it gets tricky.
Just the other day I heard there is a planned remake of The Bodyguard in the works. Instantly I thought of the 1980 movie My Bodyguard starring a very young Matt Dillon and little known actor named Chris Makepeace. Not for one minute did the smash hit starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston cross my mind, making me realize if I couldn’t remember the original movie is a remake really necessary?
