Will Drake Beat Bieber At The Grammy Awards?!

The Battle Of The Canadian Superstars!

The 53rd Grammy Awards will air live this Sunday, February 13th on CBS starting at 8pm, but you can bet I’ll be tuned it much earlier to catch the red carpet arrivals starting at about 7pm. If you’re like me you enjoy the Grammy awards more for the upsets than for the actual winners! I mean who can forget the year that Christina beat out Britney for Best New Artist?! Everyone though Britney was a lock – but nothing is guaranteed in Grammy world!

This year looks like there could be another Britney/Christina situation happening with both Justin Bieber and Drake up for the coveted title of Best New Artist. I mean, I love The Biebs, and he seems to be just about everywhere these days, but Drake seems to have a lot more ‘credibility’ in terms of the variety of artists that he’s collaborated with.  If I were a betting woman, I might just put my money on Drake to take this category.

Eminem leads the nominee listing with 10 nominations and will also perform at the show – because every awards show needs a shot of anger and angst. I’m kidding, I love Eminem! One of my new favorite artists – Bruno Mars, has the second highest noms with 7, followed by Lady Gaga, Lady Antebellum and Jay-Z with 6 each. So I think it can be said that this is one talent packed awards show.

So who’s performing you ask?! Well, if you tune in you’ll get to see Gwyneth Paltrow further try to convince that she’s not all Shakespeare and GOOP and that she actually can sing too, further giving us more reason to hate her. She’ll be singing ‘Forget You’ with Cee-Lo Green. Other performers include Arcade Fire, Eminem, Lady Gaga, Miranda Lambert, and Katy Perry, as well as Dr Dre and Bob Dylan who were both just added today.  Gaga's new single 'Born This Way' just released today and it is incredible (and slightly Madonna-esque).  I also would be lying if I didn't say that I have my fingers and toes crossed for a surprise Britney performance!

So if you’re on Twitter join in the tweeting fun and follow hashtag #YMCGrammys and let’s get that party trending! And even if you're not on twitter you can still follow me by clicking here, you don't need a twitter account to read the comments.   I’ve listed out all of the nominees below so leave your predictions in the comments and we’ll see who the best guesser is. And seriously – what do you think Gaga is going to wear?! I predict she’ll go low key and demure – after all, how do you top a meat dress?!
