TELETOON Big Ticket Movie Day

Two adult movie admissions - $21.50
Four child movie admissions - $32.00
Popcorn and drinks for six people - $40.00
Four kids at the ever distracting arcade while waiting for movie to start - $10.00
Total amount spent at the local movie theatre with strange kids kicking the back of my chair and missing most of the movie doing bathroom runs – $122.50.

Being able to stay home in your pajamas and watch classic kids movies on TELETOON and TELETOON Retro all day on Family Day – priceless

That’s right, you heard me – this February 21st, otherwise known as Family Day in some provinces and just plain old Monday in those that don’t get the day off, me and my fam are going to be hanging out in our pj’s for the entire day watching the TELETOON Network’s Big Ticket Movie Day.  And I couldn’t be more thankful for it.

As you can see from the scientific math I’ve done above, taking my kids to the movies is an expensive endeavour costing over $100 for one evening out (or $50 if I decide to be ‘mean mom’ and not buy snacks). So when TELETOON asked me to tell you all about the line-up of movies offered for their Big Ticket Movie nights and the TELETOON Retro Big Ticket Movies – I was thrilled.

My children have inherited my love of the big screen but in an effort to not break my bank we have perfected the art of the home movie theatre.  Pretty much every weekend my kids gather the pillows and blankets off their beds, grab their favourite stuffie, put on their pajamas and congregate in our family room.  We move the furniture out of the way, spread the pillows and blankets across the floor, lay out an assortment of snacks that I’ve picked up at the grocery store (at less than 80% of what I would pay at the movie theatres and 80% healthier) and settle in for the perfect family movie night.  Typically we re-watch one of our own DVD’s or go to the movie store to rent a new release.

But this Family Day the Catana family movie theatre will be open for business starting with The Jetsons Meet The Flintstones at 8:00 am and wrapping up with a 7:00 pm showing of Addams Family Values, with a whole bunch of family friendly movies in between.  After a long weekend that involves a PD day on the Friday plus three days enjoying our YMC Winterlude event, I’m not embarrassed to say my kids will be planted firmly in front of the television enjoying any number of these family friendly movies that TELETOON is offering.

If you’re going to join our family in a “relax and kick back” movie day, here’s what’s being played on TELETOON that day – trust me, your wallet will thank you.

• 8 a.m. ET/PT: The Jetsons Meet the Flintstones
• 9:30 a.m. ET/PT: The Flintstones
• 11 a.m. ET/PT: Arthur and the Invisibles
• 12:30 p.m. ET/PT: Charlotte's Web
• 5 p.m. ET/PT: The Addams Family
• 7 p.m. ET/PT: Addams Family Values

I’m torn between Charlotte’s Web and Arthur and the Invisibles – I haven’t seen either one but I think both will be great for the whole family.  Let me know your fave in the comments below.

Also don’t forget that TELETOON Retro is also starting their movie marathon at 1pm if you want even more awesome movie selections.
