It isn’t enough to deck our halls with ghouls and Jack O’Lanterns, or put together the most imaginative and cute costumes for our kids; we want our pets in on the Halloween action. Because there’s nothing cuter than a chubby dog dressed as a fat wiener.
Pet stores and Pinteresters took note of the Halloween trend and now there’s an endless assortment of costume ideas to choose from, although seven out of ten dogs surveyed say they were never asked if they preferred Cinderuffa costumes over the overdone Pugs ‘n Boots costumes. As long as your pet is willing to play along—or tolerant while giving you side eye—look no further for some pupspookular inspiration.
BOO!
Just when you thought nothing else could get the pumpkin spice treatment, along comes a venti-sized dog! The verdict is still out whether or not this contains actual pumpkin extract or just pumpkin-coloured fur. - Stacie Joy on Flickr
We're not in Kansas anymore, Toto. It's a role reversal with this idea, so pull out a shaggy black wig and whiskers for yourself or your daughter and complete the picture with a cat as the Cowardly Lion and a pony as the Tin Man. Go big or go home! - Mike McCune on Flickr
Someone had to do it…a hot dog pug and the appropriate mustard condiment. This costume works best with a voluptuous or rotund pet, but we're not making any body-shaming judgements here. - O World of Photos on Flickr
He's close to the size of a lion so this is a good costume if you're interested in scaring the neighbours. - Petful on Flickr
Every princess needs a knight in shining armour and a dragon with a flaming soother to protect her. If there's anything cuter than a group Halloween costume combining dogs and babies, prove it. - Petful on Flickr
Is it an oddly shaped pony? The latest children's toy fad? Or is this a long-suffering dog whose owners read Black Stallion Returns one too many times and who are still trying to recreate the desert race scene. The only thing missing is a windblown rider. - Imgur
I'm just going to leave this here and let you decide if this dog won the costume lottery or lost a bet. - Petful on Flickr
Superman walks among us and he's cute and furry and dog tired. - istolethetv on Flickr
Didn't we all imagine a real life version of our chia pets? This costume is instantly recognizable and will help you make new friends who are going to gape at your brilliance for coming up with such an idea and maybe score you some Halloween candy. - Julie Feinstein on Flickr
It takes a dedicated pet owner to make a scorpion costume and an even more dedicated pet to wear it. - Petful on Flickr
This is not a dog. This is an animal with the deadly skills of a ninja and zero tolerance for bullshit, so forget about dressing up Felix. Nobody's winning here. - Wikipedia
