Aaron Paul is Not Jesse Pinkman

Kindness in Hollywood Seems so Rare

Aaron Paul is Not Jesse Pinkman

Aaron-Paul

In OMG this is adorable news, a family from Ireland was on a star tour recently, and when their bus stopped outside Aaron Paul's house, he came down to chat with them. Apparently, he does this all the time. The McNeive family's dad filmed it all and posted it on YouTube for us to all enjoy:

Breaking Bad is coming up on its last 8 episodes (August 11!!!) and Paul mentions that his family has come down to go to the show's final season premiere. This guy is basically the anti-Pinkman. Love it!

So, spill it! Will you be watching the final season of Breaking Bad?

Baby Weight Expectations for Kate Middleton

It's not OK

Baby Weight Expectations for Kate Middleton

Will-kate-baby

I'm a bit of an Anglophile, I admit it. Readily. Hell, I collect Charles and Di memoribilia (and some other royals, but mostly their stuff). So, I did follow Wills' baby news with some regularity. However, the coverage went from "too much" to "are you shitting me?" really quickly and I decided I would abstain from writing about the royal couple, or little Prince George (sounds like the greatest 80s amalgamation of all time). That is, until this Wednesday's OK Magazine came out. Just 24 hours after the baby was born, their cover story screamed KATE'S POST-BABY WEIGHT LOSS REGIME.

Are you fucking kidding me? The woman is scrutinized enough for everything because she married a royal, and now you're already speculating on how she will lose the baby weight 5 minutes after she gives birth? There's been a huge backlash on Twitter, rightly so, and a number of women's and parents groups in the UK fighting back reminding new mums that it's OK to have baby weight. As one mum said, "you just made a human!"

I'm nearly 7-weeks postpartum, and while I exercised and ate healthfully during my pregnancy, I still have about 15lbs to loose and I'm not even WORRIED about it. Because I just made a human. And I'm breastfeeding him. So I'm hungry all. the. time (I eat all the things). I hope that new mums the world over don't take this to heart and spend time relaxing and enjoying their new babies. The pressure to be thin is high enough for women. This postpartum skinny thing is a tad over the top, and these rags are sinking to a new low by putting this stuff out there.

Hopefully the backlashes against this stuff will continue and we'll see less and less of this on magazine covers and online.

So, spill it! What do you think of the Will and Kate baby coverage?

Canadian Petition to Scrap Jenny McCarthy From The View

Controversy Surrounds Before She Even Starts Her New Job

Canadian Petition to Scrap Jenny McCarthy From The View

Jenny-McCarthy

News came last week that Jenny McCarthy was to be one of the replacement co-hosts for ABC's The View, in light of the departures of Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and the retirement of the show's creator and executive producer, Barbara Walters. McCarthy, the former Playboy Playmate is no stranger to controversy, and she has had her fair share of detractors. With her new job, however, the attention has shifted very quickly to her medically incorrect, loud views around her son's autism and the role vaccines had to play in his illness.

A Toronto based group, Voices for Vaccines has taken to Change.org to create a petition to try and get ABC to reverse their offer of employment to McCarthy based on comments such as, "If you ask 99.9 percent of parents who have children with autism if we'd rather have the measles versus autism, we'd sign up for the measles." Dangerous stuff.

And even though the basis for all her "knowledge" of autism was thoroughly debunked, McCarthy stands by her claims that vaccines such as MMR caused her son Evan to become autistic. Voices for Vaccines is concerned that McCarthy's non-scientific opinions will gain popularity again, and she will use the show as a way to start talking more about not vaccinating children. I think it's a fair concern, especially considering that the diseases we vaccinate against are still alive and well and can actually kill our children.

A few years ago, I seem to recall McCarthy being offered a show on Oprah's OWN but that was quickly put to rest, I think possibly because there were similar complaints from the public. As someone who believes strongly in peer reviewed research and science, it terrifies me that McCarthy has, time and time again, been given the forum to spew lies to people in a way that is so terrifying, so knee-jerk and so aggressively wrong based on one study that was not only debunked, but that the doctor who did the study was stripped of his credentials speaks volumes.

I'm not sure that this petition will end her job before it begins, but maybe people will stop tuning into The View come September. It will certainly be interesting to see if no-bullshit Whoopie has anything to say about her if she brings up the whole vaccine thing.

So, spill it! What do you think about Jenny McCarthy's new job as co-host of The View?
