Lainey Gossip's Excellent TEDx Talk

On why gossip is good...and why we shouldn't be ashamed to love it

So, clearly, I love celebrity gossip. If I didn't, I wouldn't be writing all these posts, engaging with you guys. And I follow all sorts of other bloggers. From Michael K to Lainey Gossip. I also am a big fan of TEDx talks, and last month, as part of their move to Vancouver, TEDx invited Elaine Lui (of Lainey Gossip) to give a talk. I know what you are thinking — what kind of talk can a celebrity blogger give at a huge socio-scientific conference? I'll tell you what kind, an amazing one.

Lainey caught my history degree having mind from her discussion of gossip literally being chiseled into stone in Ancient Egypt and brings it forward in an amazing way. The questions she brings up around pop culture, gossip reporting, and mommy blogging are BANG on, and she's reminded me of the reasons I wanted to start writing this blog was to question our social norms, to question what we're consuming and to question what we're exposing our kids to.

So, after watching that, tell me what you think about celebrity gossip? Gossip in general? Is Lainey way off the mark, or has she hit the nail on the head?
