Nestlé Canada has issued a precautionary recall on their Good Start 2 Concentrate with Omega Infant Formula. The recall affects the 359 ml tetra boxes, available for sale in Canada.
Nestlé reports the issue with the formula concerns minerals in the liquid, which may separate over time and appear as "black particles."
Consuming the formula could mean less-than-optimal intake of the some of the nutrients. The Toronto Star reports that the recall affects only Canadian formula, and Nestlé Canada says consumers should check their supply of Good Start 2 with Omega for the following batch codes: 512857211A, 512957211A, 512957212A, 513057211A, The UPC number on the case is 0-00-65000-49277-4.
Customers who have the item on hand should stop using it and dispose of the product. Parents and caregivers can contact the company Monday to Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ET at 1-855-395-1238 to arrange for return of the affected formula.
