The winter edition will be published soon and I thought you might like a preview of my upcoming “how to” article which will be appearing in the magazine.
You can read this article, in its entirety, and past columns at City Style and Living. You will find a complete list of my favourite products to achieve the look!
I am always surprised at how brands that tout themselves as the last moisturizer you will ever need keep bringing new ones to market.
Prevage by Elizabeth Arden is following this path. A few years ago they introduced the original Prevage and it was touted as the last skincare item ever needed...now they have 8 products.
Lancome has done it again. This season they launched a very run of the mill product and put a great deal of amazing marketing behind the product. Last year Lancome convinced consumers they could activate genetic behaviour with a topical product and this season they launched Visionnaire.
One of the drawbacks about writing a blog is the brevity used in order to deliver interesting information quickly. When I first starting writing for YMC, Erica advised me to try to use less language. Basically, if I didn’t need to use a word I shouldn’t. After spending years of doing long form writing I found this new short form very challenging. How could I possibly impart all the critical information in 400 words or less. Well I am very happy to say I did get good at it – as you can observe from my posts. Lots of relevant information without superfluous language.
The “New Year” of fashion and make up has arrived. New looks, new designs and new approaches towards image and style means it is time for my semi annual tour across Canada showcasing how you can achieve all the desired trends and incorporate them into your daily regimes of beauty and fashion.
I love this time of year and meeting all the women who have asked me questions about skincare, make up and trends.
Here is my Autumn schedule of appearances and how you can meet me in person.
I am leaving for vacation today so this will be my last blog until August 22. Before the Autumn season is upon us I wanted to leave you with some thoughts about basic beauty myths that seem to persist for generations. Here is a quick list of myths and the truth about each.
Recently I got into a lengthy conversation with an aesthetician about proper skincare. She and I had some very differing viewpoints on what constitutes essential treatment for skin.
Here is my list of Must Have skincare and Don’t Even Use skincare:
Must Have – as in this is the essential list for all skin:
@Soph_Don tweeted me “Do you know anything about Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator?”
The newest addition, to the EL range is the Even Skintone Illuminator and it is getting mostly positive reviews from most sources. Keep in mind is that EL owns dozens of cosmetics companies and often, with a little searching, you can find very similar products at varying price points. EL claims this product will remove hyper pigmentation, sunspots, redness and correct the overall tone of the skin.
Once in a while I want to tell you about something I am working on. As most of you know I am the Creative Director of Daniel Thompson Beauty, but what some of you may not know is that I am also a paramedical aesthetician, a professor of cosmetic chemistry and a product developer.
A few years ago GM Collin went through a complete rebrand and most of the collection’s formulas were updated. It was well known, in the industry, that the line had not had any real innovation for many years. In the last three years the company has really stepped up its quality. This is a brand to watch – while not everything they offer meets my exacting standards a great many of their products are really impressive.
Many of you know I am a contributing writer to City Style and Living Magazine. The latest issue was just published last week and my new article showcases how to “summer proof” your make up.
I am often asked which cosmetic products are the best to buy. It is a bit of a tough question because there both great products and junk products in every brand.
My standard answer has always been: if you find a product that works well for you – regardless of price point or brand – then that is the best product for you to buy. It is different for every person.
There are however, some products that are completely useless all the time and a great way to waste hard earned money:
@jakewilton09 contacted me to ask: “What is a good moisturizer?”
While it seems to be a fairly simple question, the answer is a little more complex than just naming a brand of skin care to use. There are a lot of variables to consider when deciding on a skin care program:
