Steve Moakler

Success for a 23-Year Old Dreamer

I came across this artist earlier this week when I was going through the new music releases on iTunes and I haven't stopped listening to him since.

So who is Steve Moakler? Think the musical vibe of Jason Mraz meets Jack Johnston meets John Mayer in his early days....with a touch of David Gray and David Garza thrown into the mix.

Steve Moakler has never been one to shy away from taking chances. He left his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA to pursue the dream of a music career in Nashville. Since that time, Moakler has released two EPs & two full-length albums, performed for thousands of fans at clubs and colleges across the country, and has had his songs featured in several television shows. Not a bad resume for a dreamer who's only 23 years old.

His latest record "Watching Time Run" is about beginnings and ends, hellos and goodbyes, searching for yourself and finding someone to share the journey with. It represents the personal stories of a 23-year old making his way through life and watching time move on, set to a backdrop of pop, rock and country music. Many of us can relate to trying to move forward, but watching things move by too fast. We long to slow down and appreciate the beauty of the ride and the people that come in and out of our lives. Moakler has experienced a lot of growing up in the past two years and he lets you in on all those experiences and life lessons by listening to this new album.

Steve may be "watching time run" but he certainly isn't letting it slip by.

All I know is that I instantly fell for his musical stylings. Listen. Love it. And then go buy his albums on iTunes.

And this one (one of my favourites)....is where Steve channels his inner David Gray...he really does.
