Singing Legend Etta James Dies at 73

A Powerhouse Voice Silenced

Singer Etta James has passed away at the age of 73 due to complications of her leukemia.

Etta James had one of those powerhouse voices that bridged the gap between so many musical genres—she was a part blues, rhythm and blues, part rock and roll, soul, part gospel and jazz.

And her ability to fuse all these genres together into one unforgettable voice and style was celebrated and embraced by critics, artists and fans alike. During her career shewon six Grammys and seventeen Blues Music Awards. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Blues Hall of Fame and the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Rolling Stone Magazine ranked Etta James #22 on their list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time and #62 on the list of the 100 Greatest Artists.

Etta James is a voice that will be missed but never forgotten.
