Happy Anniversary to Me: A Peek Into My Playlist

Five Years For The Bsides

Happy Anniversary to Me: A Peek Into My Playlist

So it's been five years since I started writing the music blog for YMC. Posting for the Bsides has been a great extension of my music-loving ways…

And in that five years I've listened to a lot of music — so here is a look back of some of my favourite songs that found their way to my iPod...

Now where is my chilled glass of Baby Duck to celebrate?

When The Brat Pack Ruled And Ferris Bueller Took A Day Off

High School Flashback

When The Brat Pack Ruled And Ferris Bueller Took A Day Off

So on Sunday night, while I was watching the Super Bowl halftime show, it occurred to me that Bruno Mars was a mere six years old when the song "Give It Away," by the RHCP (and holy crap Anthony Kiedisminus the porn star 'stache looking blazing hawt for 51, yes 51) came out (mind blown). So to lessen the blow of my feeling *&^%$# old, I decided that a flashback to simpler times was in order.

Today is all about indulging in something mindless and fun.

Here are things that were on my bedroom walls while I was growing up. (And for the record, it took two whole months of convincing my very Italian father to allow me to put anything up on my walls in the first placemy father was all about the virginal-esque white wallsso anything I put up on my walls was very carefully selected.)

Needless to say, I spent a lot of money on those Teen BeatTiger BeatSuper Teen16 and Bop magazines.

U2, Madonna, Rob Lowe, Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, The Brat Pack, NKOTB, Donnie Wahlberg, River Pheonix, Duran Duran, Luke Perry, anything Beverly Hills 90210, George Michael, Tiffany, Bon Jovi, Billy Idol, movie posters from The Breakfast Club, Some Kind Of Wonderful, Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Eric Stoltz, Corey Haim, Corey Hart, Kirk Cameron, Johhny Depp, Paula Abdul, Bobby Brown, Cyndi Lauper, January 1992 Seventeen Magazine Cover with Niki and Krissy Taylor, YM (Young & Modern) Magazine cover with Madonna (1993), Marky Mark's Calvin Klein underwear ads, Menudo, Joey Lawrence, Antonio Sabato Jr., James Dean, Ralph Macchio, Tom Cruise, and Janet Jackson.

And since this post is about the retro vibe, here are some videos from back in the day:
