Band Spotlight: Fevers

Independent Electronic Pop

Band Spotlight: Fevers

Fevers are an Ottawa-based five-piece musical unit, who describe themselves as "purveyors of independent electronic pop."

Their music is a fresh take on the classic genre, combining indie rock and electronic music. They built on the work of M83, Passion Pit and The Postal Service and developed their own distinct modern sound...and they do it well.

All I know is that their first single, 'Passion Is Dead (Long Live Fashion)' is le damn catchy and could fit seamlessly into any night club mix or well crafted electronica playlist.

Spotlight on Gavin DeGraw

He's Back...

Spotlight on Gavin DeGraw

"How do you expose your vulnerability without seeming like somebody who gets kicked around, and at the same time, describe your ability to get past something without sounding cocky. That’s always tricky, because you know you’re being judged on the lyrics and they’re all very personal."  ~Gavin DeGraw

So I've been a huge fan of Gavin DeGraw for, like, forever.

Ever since I heard his first single 'I Don't Want To Be' backin 2004, I've been 100% hooked on this singer/songwriter/musician.

Gavin is back with a new album Sweeter and his latest single 'Not Over You' (co-written with OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder) is quickly making it's way to the top of the music charts.

It's the song that speaks to those past relationships that never got the closure it needed...because you never got over the person. It's about secretly wishing for that second chance. The lyrics are exactly what you would have written in your diary...it's about reflection and facing the truth.

This song is classic Gavin DeGraw and it's damn good.

Robert Randolph

Crunchy And Sizzling Hot Music

Robert Randolph

When you stick to what you believe in, and with the roots of where you come from, things will always work out. ~Robert Randolph

Last week, a good friend of mine introduced me to this band and song.

For as long as our friendship has existed, we’ve always tried to one up each other on music finds. Needless to say, he won the latest round. But his find was so good that I didn’t care that I lost.

The band? Robert Randolph & The Family Band.

The song? Ain't Nothing Wrong With That

Releases? We Walk This Road (2010), Colorblind (2006), Unclassified (2003)

The sound? It’s crunchy, funky and ridiculously smokin’ hawt.

Think Lenny Kravitz meets Funkadelic with a little Hendrix and Stevie Wonder thrown in as spice. It’s all the things you love about gospel, blues and rock put together into one amazing sound.

After one listen I was totally 100% hooked. And several tracks made their way onto my iPod.
