Adele Behind The Story

How She Got Her Start

Adele Behind The Story

My friend set up a MySpace page for my music in 2004, but I was 14 or 15 and I wasn’t really interested in it. But it was part of my course at school to learn how to use recording equipment, so I’d record these demos then I’d give them to my friend Lyndon, because I don’t listen to my own music, and he started putting them on there.

He kept saying to me between 2004 and 2006, ‘I think you’ve got an email from someone at Sony.’ But I kept saying, ‘Oh, it’s probably just an internet perv,’ so he didn’t reply.

Then the day after I finished college, when I was 18, he gave me the website password and said, ‘You should go on this now. I don’t think they are internet pervs, I think they are serious’.

I went on there and had all of these emails from record companies. Then three days later I was in the offices of XL Recordings, who ended up signing me.

Boyce Avenue and Tyler Ward

YouTube Sensations

Boyce Avenue and Tyler Ward

So last night I headed out to see that famous YouTube band, Boyce Avenue play in Ottawa.

This was my second Boyce Avenue concert and they were as amazing as they were as the first time...

My only complaint was the gang of teenage girls standing behind me...I swear they broke the world record for most non-stop loud talking during a concert.

But I digress.

It's amazing that a band that gets no traditional video or radio support can sell shows all over the world.

It's a testament to their talent and what an incredible tool social media is for aspiring musicians.

Here is Boyce Avenue's latest cover...this one with Tyler Ward (another YouTube sensation).
