'Mission Bell' (Blue Note Records) is the 4th release by Philadelphia-born singer-songwriter, Amos Lee and this album has already earned him the highest chart position of his career....with a #1 debut on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart.

Straight No Chaser

The 10 Man A Capella Group

Straight No Chaser

Straight No Chaser  are a 10-man a capella group, and they're touring all across Canada this month.

Originally formed over 12 years ago while students at Indiana University, the group has reassembled and reemerged with a massive fanbase, (more than 20 million views on YouTube), numerous national TV appearances, and proven success with their releases, HOLIDAY SPIRITS, CHRISTMAS CHEERS and WITH A TWIST. In an era in the music biz when so much 'pop' music is the product of digital processing, Straight No Chaser is the real deal - they are ten voices coming together to make extraordinary music that is moving people in a fundamental sense… and with a sense of humor.

Here are the boys performing I'm Yours/Somewhere Over The Rainbow...

And because it's one of my all time favourite tracks...here is their take on 'Wonderwall' by Oasis:

Hmm wonder if I can convince them to try their skills at covering 'Bittersweet Symphony' by The Verve. Just saying. But I digress.

If you're wanting to catch Straight No Chaser on their latest Canadian tour here are this month's dates:

06-Feb-11 - Alliston, ON - Gibson Centre
07-Feb-11 - Toronto, ON - Glenn Gould Theater

A is for Amos

Spotlight On The Ottawa Based Band

A is for Amos

Ottawa based band and Canadian music scene darlings, Amos the Transparent are known for their full out rock and loud live shows but it seems they have a softer 'keep the peace not so in your face' side....who knew?

They managed to do the unthinkable and have released a kid's indie rock lullaby EP...and for the record it's totally dreamy and soothing.

Think stripped down bare bones rock infused lullabies for the Fisher-Price/Playskool set...according to Amos founder Jonathan Chandler, “We thought it might be a good idea to start marketing to the pre-school set. Get them early, get them for life”.

And you can get the A is for Amos EP for free...just head over to the website and download. You'll be glad you did.

Track listing for A Is For Amos:
1. “After All That, It's Come To This”
2. “She Wasn’t Lying”
3. “It’s A Beautiful Life”
4. “My Fear of Animals”
5. “Title Track”
6. “Lemons, Aka (BigFishLittlePond)”

And for the non lullaby track...I recommend this gem...my favourite release by Amos The Transparent..."Lemons"...trippy, laid back and so so good.
