Hello Yummy Mummies, mind if a Dad crashes the party?
My name is Buzz (okay, you guessed it, not my real name, but it's the one I've used on the radio for 20 years now, so work with me). I do a morning radio show in Calgary and my wife, Jennifer, and I have two gorgeous boys - Zacharie (just about 4) and Charles (just past 1).
I've been writing online for the past 15 years, mostly about technology, then about personal stuff and when I was faced with some unemployment in the summer of 09, I decided to start writing about my kids.
That tech background is being placed upon my boys. I quickly carved out twitter accounts, web domains, gmail addresses and facebook pages for my boys before they were born. Zacharie more comfortable with an iPad than a paintbrush and Charlie would prefer to chew an old iPhone than a koog ball.
I'm not shy when it comes to sharing stories about my family on the air or online, and I do it with the idea to promote discussion, encourage engagement and spark participation. The reason we read and write about our kids online is because we care about them, we want the best for them and we're eager to hear the experiences of other to see if there is something we can learn.
I was beyond flattered when Erica asked me to join your community (I mean c'mon, she's Erica EHM!) and I look forward to sharing the view from the other side of the bed.
