A to Z of Taming Tantrums: G is for Gratitude

Feeling grateful does reduce tantrums. Here's how...

G is for Gratitude - A to Z of Taming Tantrums

Hi! Welcome to the next video in our A to Z of Taming Tantrums series. Today’s letter is G, and G is for gratitude. You might be wondering how gratitude and reducing tantrums are linked—they certainly are!

Feeling grateful is a (scientifically proven) way to increase our happiness, and when we are feeling happier, we have better access to the rational part of our mind that helps reduce our emotional outbursts and helps our children through theirs.

I’m going to share that I had a hard time shooting this video. Gratitude reminds me of an incident that occurred in my life, which was particularly challenging. I think of this tricky moment and gratitude together because of an exercise I did in a workshop one day when my children where one and three-years-old. You’ll understand more when you watch this video. When I finished the first take of this video-shoot, the producer looked at me and said, “That’s a wrap on this one.” I feel nervous to have this video out there for everyone to see!

I hope this video reminds you to look for grateful moments even when they might be difficult to see.

If you would like to read more about finding gratitude, I invite you to read this post, which I shared more about my story. Please do comment either on the video, here, or over on my Facebook page. I'd love to hear about what you are grateful for on those days that are a bit more challenging.

We're so excited to share with you the A to Z of Taming Tantrums video series!

Each week we'll share the next letter of the alphabet and Andrea will discuss how it relates to reducing tantrums - and improve our experience as parents! You can view each video here as they are added each Friday.
