Dresses, dresses, and more dresses. That's *really* what awards shows are about for me, and the 2013 Academy Awards were no exception. There were very few surprises in the way of awards last night—all four acting awards went the way they were predicted to go, and I was pleased with all four. I have seen all four of those performances and good goodness, they were all exceptional. And Argo, which I still have yet to see, took home—as predicted—the Best Picture trophy, even though Ben Affleck was completely snubbed in the director category. The cast of Les Miserables singing together made me cry. John Travolta's pronounciation of Les Miserables made me cry too. Seth MacFarlane was not Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, but I honestly didn't really care. I laughed at some parts, I cringed at others.
But mostly I just wanted to look at the dresses (and a few of the man looks too—looking at you, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Eddie Redmayne).
There were so many good choices in fabrics, colours, and silhouettes last night that I almost don't know where to begin.
Kelly Ripa win with this one. Gorgeous. Does anyone know who makes this?
Was it a safe choice for Amy Adams? Possibly. But you know what? She looked pretty and elegant—exactly what the Oscars are all about.

I am a stickler for fabric choice and I don't think this was a good choice for Zoe Saldana, because of all the waist wrinkling in the cab ride on the way over, but the top of this dress blew my damn mind. It wasn't my favourite dress of the night, but I just loved it so much.

There's something truly comforting and easy about a classic LBD. Coco Chanel knew what she was doing way back in 1926. The little black dress is universally flattering and always works in any social situation.
But there's a new go-to "it" dress on the scene—the LWD. While you, of course, are always safe to wear your staple black dresses, why not step out of the black box this spring and summer with a Little White Dress.
There are so many ways to wear a white dress. Neon-coloured belts, with a bright blazer and nude accessories, with metallic stacked bangles, under a patterned loose pastel scarf, with a jewel-toned statement necklace, layered under a pretty cardigan, with bright pink sandals, paired with a cropped denim jacket.

Little white dresses are a great warm weather choice for any occasion—from a family brunch to shopping with the ladies to an evening cocktail party.
Just as a slight PSA: please, please, please make sure you wear only nude-coloured undergarments underneath your white dress. Nothing turns a classy outfit trashy like a visible pair of underpants.
I'll be honest, as far as red carpet fashion goes, The Grammy Awards are usually my least favorite. As opposed to the formalwear from The Emmys, Golden Globes and the Oscars, Grammy fashion tends to be edgier and more over-the-top and a bit of a game to see who can show the most sideboob, navel, and thigh.

I mean, it's not every day you see an award winner performing on stage in a shiny gold pleather-ish button-down on top of manpri leggings.
Oh, Nate Ruess, how I love you and that song from Breaking Amish. But this outfit. I have feeeeeelings about it. Luckily, he put on an adorable acceptable suit when his band Fun. picked up their Grammy for best new artist, with just a wee bit of irony. “Everyone can see our faces, and we are not very young — we’ve been doing this for 12 years.”
Manpris aside, there were some real winners at the Grammys.
This was, by far, my favorite of the night. I love Carrie Underwood, I kind of love everything about her. She's stunning, she's sweet, and girl can sing. She's the loveliest thing to come out of American Idol (although I do find Kelly Clarkson's photobombs hilarious and endearing) and this dress was just perfect.
