The Man Who Beget 50 Children

Procreating Machine

The Man Who Beget 50 Children

A 90-year-old Brazilian farmer goes by the name dad to a lot of people: 50, to be exact. Just four women, including two sisters and their mother, have given birth to his huge brood.

"The thing that God made best in the world was woman," said Luiz Costa de Oliveira, who admitted he couldn't even name all of his kids if he had to, and that there might even be more than 50.

The breakdown goes something like this: 17 children with Luiz's first wife Francisca, another 17 with Maria Francisca da Silva. While Maria's sister Ozelita was around helping out with the full house, Luiz struck up a relationship with her too, and added an extra 15 to the mix.

Even the sisters' mother was not safe from Luiz's wiles. Once upon a time 89-year-old Francisca Maria succumbed to Casanova, but at least she had the sense to have just one baby with him.

Sounds like Luiz had been reading too much Genesis and took it upon himself to populate the world from the beginning. Let's hope someone has the sense to keep the Viagra far, far out of reach.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell Days Are Now Over

US Military Comes Out of the Closet

Don't Ask, Don't Tell Days Are Now Over

After nearly two decades, the US Military has finally abolished its Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy which prevented homosexuals from 'openly' entering the Forces.

Surprising that such a decision took so long, but the inherent macho man image of the military obviously dies hard. As a result many previously dismissed soldiers and sailors said they plan to re-enlist.

Still, time will tell whether the repeal will lead to more, not less, discrimination behind closed doors -- not to mention when it comes to promotions.

For now, even the cynics have to concede that it's a happy day when everyone can do their job without hiding their true selves behind a uniform.

Men Cruise Around with Dead Friend

Real Life Weekend at Bernie's

Men Cruise Around with Dead Friend

Hollywood has a lot to answer for. In a macabre version of the movie, Weekend at Bernie's, two men cruised around Denver with a corpse, using their dead friend’s ATM card and visiting a strip club.

Robert Young and Mark Rubinson now face charges of abusing a corpse, identity theft and criminal impersonation. While it’s not clear how Jeffrey Jarrett died, the men were not charged in connection with his death.

In the Hollywood movie, two guys who find their boss dead at his beachfront home, cart his body around town in attempt to salvage the luxurious weekend they’d planned.

According to a police affidavit, Jarrett was unresponsive when his ‘friends’ loaded him into a car and drove to a restaurant called Teddy T's. They then spent more than an hour drinking, using Jarrett’s card to pick up the tab, leaving Jarrett in the backseat.

Rubinson and Young then drove to another restaurant, before returning to Jarrett's home. They put him in bed then went back out again to party. En route they alerted police that their friend was dead at home, but it later transpired that Jarrett was obviously dead while the three were at Teddy T's.

The two men are scheduled to appear in court in the next few weeks.
