We all know of people with such outstanding hair, it seems like an integral part of their very character. Well, Clare Bowen, who plays country singer Scarlett on the show Nashville, is one of those people. Which is why people are reeling from the fact that she just cut it all off.
Yep, those lustrous trademark locks are gone. And Clare Bowen felt obliged to explain why she chopped it all off in a poetic Facebook post, along with an image of her captioned "It's Just Hair," which has garnered almost 150,000 'likes.'
Big deal, you may say. I know I did. There was a wave of gorgeous actresses getting pixie cuts not all that long ago. Newsflash: it's 2015 and short styles on women can still look feminine and sexy (says she who just dared to go short).
Except in Bowen's case, the story runs deeper. What many people don't know about the beautiful Australian actress is that as a child she was said to be terminally ill. Without spoiling the post, Bowen went on to survive (obviously), yet being critically ill in a children's hospital ward taught her valuable lessons about beauty.

"I survived, my hair grew back and I got strong again," she writes. "I look relatively normal on the outside, but on the inside, I am still the same stitched back together little creature, in a world where people are judged so harshly for the way they look. It has always been completely incomprehensible to me. How can people think there's time for that?"
Drawing her inspiration from a little girl similar to her, Bowen cut off her hair to prove that hair is not what makes a princess or, indeed, a woman.
"Every scar tells a story," she adds, "every baldhead, every dark circle, every prosthetic limb, and every reflection in a mirror that you might not recognize anymore. Look deeper than skin, hair, nails, and lips. You are who you are in your bones. That is where you have the potential to shine the brightest from. It is where your true beautiful self lives."
As a teen I shaved my head, which was way more radical than a pixie cut, believe me. So I can relate to all the horrified glances and wordless judgment I was met with every day and every painstaking inch that it took to grow back.
As Bowen rightly says, "self-esteem takes a lot longer to grow back than hair."
Prepare to get excited, like, really excited. The only thing better than a new Pixar movie is a sequel of a Pixar blockbuster you loved from your own youth.
(OK, so who am I kidding - but I was a lot younger in 2003 when Finding Nemo came out and was the first Pixar movie to bag an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.)
Now Nemo has spawned Finding Dory in 2016.
The trailer is here, and Ellen DeGeneres is back as the voice of kooky Dory, the "friendly-but-forgetful blue tang" who helped her clownfish buddy Nemo track down his dad in the first instalment.
The storyline sounds uncannily familiar (a fishy protagonist looking for lost relatives - this time trading the waters of Australia for California - and "learning the the true meaning of family along the way").
Still, it promises to be a fun wave to ride and a surefire winner for Pixar, who can do no wrong by appealing to both kids and their nostalgic parents. Nemo grossed $936.7 million. And I have no doubt Dory will prove equally popular.
June 17 is a long time to wait. But in case you forget, you can watch the trailer over and over again.

No single fashion trend has polarized the masses quite like the man bun. Love it or hate it, everyone has an opinion on the hairstyle beloved by hipsters.
The words 'man' and 'bun' should by rights never appear side by side in the English lexicon. Kind of like 'mint' and 'chocolate,' but that's just me.
The man bun reached epidemic proportions this past summer, and its popularity shows no signs of slowing down. Now that the month of Movember is upon us, you can expect to see many bearded men combining their facial hair with a scraped-back bun.
If the man in your life needs a makeover, and doesn't want to go through the pain of growing out his Harperesque hairstyle, fear not. I have the perfect stocking stuffer for you: the clip-on man bun. The artificial chignon simply clips to his natural hair with bobby pins. Presto!
In case you needed more proof of just how out of control the whole man bun trend has gone, look no further than the international heads of state. From Putin to Mao to Obama, all have sported the bun at one time or other. OK, so maybe not, but it's fun to imagine...
And even though numerous well-meaning people have tried to persuade me that man buns are the epitome of sexy, I refuse to be swayed. But I will happily look on these beautiful creatures, longing for a pair of scissors.
The man bun is clearly here to stay, and though I'm resigned to the fact, I'm also deeply relieved to note that man braids have failed to catch on. So far.
