No matter how many times and how many ways parents are told not to leave children and pets in cars, someone somewhere still does—often with tragic consequences. To test just how uncomfortable a backseat can get, a North Carolina dad put himself in the hot seat, literally.
According to an article in the Toronto Star, Terry Bartley became unbearably sweaty and breathless after just 10 minutes trapped in the car on a scorching day. He compared the sensation to being inside a microwave.
The YouTube video of 33-year-old Bartley is telling. And let's hope, after more than 1.1 million views, the message will finally get through.
“I’m glad to be a part of spreading the word,” said Bartley, who made the video following the death of 22-month-old Cooper Harris. “I’m very thankful I got a lot of love and support.”
Harris's father pleaded not guilty, and claimed he left Cooper in his SUV by accident.
Just this past weekend, a one-year-old was rescued from a 30C car in Vaughan Mills. Her 42-year-old father was arrested upon his return to the car 30 minutes later. The infant is now in her mother's custody.
Every day a child is left or forgotten in a vehicle. That's one too many, if you ask me.

What can you give a grieving father that will somehow bring a smile to his lips? An Ohio dad whose baby girl died last week had a strange request for Reddit users:
“My daughter recently passed away after a long battle in the children's hospital,” he wrote. “Since she was in the hospital her whole life, we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes. Can someone remove the tubes from this photo?”
According to an article in Today, many users were happy to oblige the mourning father, Nathen Steffel, putting their Photoshop expertise to use.
"I couldn't sleep without at least trying," wrote one user.
Some used editing software, while others sketched precious drawings based on a photo of six-week-old Sophia, who had a liver tumour. She was on a waiting list for a donor when she died.
“I didn't really want all the publicity, I just wanted a picture. What I received was a whole lot of love and support from complete strangers,” Steffel told Today. “My wife and I were so grateful so many people took the time out of their own lives to either send a nice message of sympathy or an awesome drawing. They couldn't have made this father any happier.”
People can be totally beautiful when you least expect it.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has launched an investigation after bottles of Enfamil A+ Ready-to-Feed Infant Formula sold at Wal-Mart west of Toronto were visibly tampered with.
According to an article in CBC, consumers are advised to inspect formula containers before purchasing them.
The bottles were broken and sealed with blue tape. The formula was replaced with water and contained formula residue.
Though there were no illnesses reported, three incidents occurred in Wal-Mart locations in Brampton and Mississauga.
The products have been removed from Wal-Mart stores in the Halton and Peel regions while the investigation continues.
Customers are advised to immediately discard or return to Wal-Mart any potentially contaminated product.
