Couple Conceives While Asleep

And You Thought You Only Had to Worry About Sleep Walking

Couple Conceives While Asleep

A couple desperate for a baby managed to conceive while one of them was asleep.

After 18 months of trying, Ryan Harris utlimately impregnanted his wife Dee while he was sound asleep. Ironically, the couple was about to start fertility treatment when she discovered she was pregnant.

Harris, 28, has a rare medical condition known as sexsomnia, which leads him to perform sexual acts he later cannot remember. Regularly he wakes 25-year-old Dee for sex without regaining consciousness himself.

The first time it happened, customer service assistant Dee allegedly sent Ryan a text saying "last night was great", then found he had no idea what she was talking about. Since then, she keeps records of their middle-of-the-night trysts.

"When I looked back, it was clear I'd conceived on a night we had 'sleep sex' as we call it — which means I'm half-awake and Ryan is actually totally asleep," says Dee. "That night Ryan took me by surprise. It put more of the fun back into [trying to conceive] — and it clearly worked."

The Basingstoke, England, couple were together for eight years before their son Lincoln, now 16 months old, was born.

Apparently she enjoys sex sleep because it's more intense and lasts longer, which the couple directly attributes to their son's conception.

Would you find it weird to have sex if your partner wasn't fully conscious?

Mom Sacrifices Life for Baby

The Right Choice?

Mom Sacrifices Life for Baby

For most of us, finding out you're expecting a baby is a magical and unforgettable moment. But for Stacie Crimm, the news was especially bittersweet.

At 41, she had given up on the hope that she would ever bear a child. She even took five pregnancy tests just to be sure. Then she texted the happy news to her brother, Ray Phillips.

From there everything went downhill for the single mom from Oklahoma City. In the months following her conception, Crimm started getting severe headaches, seeing double. Tremors shook her entire body.

Worried that something was wrong with her baby, she saw a doctor and received devastating news: she had head and neck cancer.

While chemotherapy could potentially help kick cancer, Crimm refused, knowing it would also take the life of her unborn child. Eventually she was rushed to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where doctors performed a C-section to deliver the baby.

Weighing just 2lbs 1oz , Dottie May was born. Just 3 weeks later, having held her baby daughter once, Crimm died.

Ray Phillips and his wife are fulfilling his sister's dying wish by bringing Dottie May home to live with them.

Can you even imagine making such an incredible sacrifice, as Stacie Crimm did?  Was it the right thing to do?

Child Drives Drunk Dad

I Was Driving Good

Child Drives Drunk Dad

We all know it's responsible to appoint a designated driver when we knock back a few drinks... Well, a Michigan dad just that -- except his DD happened to be his 9-year-old daughter.

Brownstown Township's 39-year-old Shawn Weimer was caught on surveillance camera bragging to the clerk at a gas station about his minor's skill behind the wheel. The girl herself followed up proudly with, "And I parked."

Incredibly, when the police eventually pulled over the Weimers' van, the little girl in the booster seat said, "What did you stop me for? I was driving good." She had even used her turn signal, twice (which, admittedly, is more than I can say for a good many Torontonian motorists).

Weimer, who'd been drinking whiskey all night and refused a breath test, faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted of second-degree child abuse charges.

Not surprisingly, he also has a previous for stolen property, unarmed robbery, and firearm offences.
