My Mother's Day Gift

Help Me Raise Money for Camp Ooch

by: Erica Ehm

My Mother's Day Gift

For the last two and a half months, I've been training for the Sporting Life 10K Run.

I'm running for a few reasons. The first is to raise money for Camp Oochigeas — to help send a child with cancer to camp. Secondly, I'm doing it for me — to test my endurance and get me away from my computer. And, I'm doing it for my family — to show my kids how strong their mom is and how awesome running can make you feel. This is why it makes me happy that this run happens on the morning of Mother's Day.

Every year there's a lot of talk about what moms want on Mother's Day. Well, I can't speak for everyone with kids, but I can tell you what I would like on this Sunday. I would like my family to come out and cheer for me and all my friends who are getting out of our comfort zones to do this run.

And I want YOU to sponsor me for the run. I will happily take any donation from you because the money will make a child coping with cancer's life a little brighter at camp.

Think of the last ten weeks I spent (occasionally) running in the cold, rain, snow, up hills and far away with other Sporting Life Ambassadors. Under the guidance of trainer Brent Bishop I worked it baby so I'll be able to cross the finish line this Sunday.

Happy Mother's Day to all of us who put ourselves out there as role models. Each in our own small way can make the world a little better.
