Vegan Chocolate Banana "Ice Cream"

MAKE YOUR OWN (LOW FAT, HEALTHY) SUNDAE!

Vegan Chocolate Banana "Ice Cream"

chocolate vegan ice cream

According to my children, one of life’s greatest experiences — especially in the summertime — is going to a soft-serve ice cream/frozen yogurt bar, the kind where you fill your own cup and select your own toppings. It is a lot of fun, to be sure, but it can be expensive, and if you join them in this indulgence, it can also be hard on the waistline.

Vegan Kitchen Hacks: Heavy Cream

Enter this recipe, which is sure to impress your children and satisfy your own chocolate cravings. It’s easy, it’s inexpensive, and it doesn’t require an ice cream maker. There is no added sugar, there are only three ingredients involved, and there are less than 80 calories per serving. Do I need any more selling points? I don’t think so! Give this a whirl — literally, whirl it in your food processor — and then give in to those cravings!

Ingredients

3 frozen ripe bananas
4 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tbsp almond milk

Directions

In a blender or food processor, whirl together bananas, cocoa powder, and almond milk until smooth and creamy. Add more almond milk in small increments if mixture is too thick.

Scrumptious served alone or with favourite toppings such as chocolate syrup, sprinkles, chocolate chips.

Yield: 4 servings
