This marinade is very versatile and can be doubled or tripled depending on the size of your steak. In this recipe I used a 1 lb flank steak that served small portions to two adults and two children. Marinate your steak the night before for a stronger taste, or the day of for lighter flavour. | YMC

Marinate your steak the night before for a stronger taste, or the day of for lighter flavour. I also like drizzling a little bit on broccoli as well. While I chose flank steak, you can use this marinade on any cut of steak.

Ingredients:

2 Tbsp oil
1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tsp dijon mustard
2 tsp garlic, minced
1 lb flank steak

Directions:
  • Mix ingredients together in a medium size bowl.

  • Place steak in a re-sealable plastic bag or dish to marinate. Pour marinade into bag or container and swirl around so all of steak has been covered in marinade.

  • Allow to marinate either overnight or a few hours.

  • Preheat BBQ to medium high heat.

  • Place marinated steak directly on BBQ grills and grill for 5 minutes each side, or according to your preference.

  • Remove steak from BBQ and allow to rest for 5-10 minutes.

  • Slice steak on diagonal (against the grain) for serving.

  • For broccoli, either toss 1-2 tsp of unused (did not touch raw steak) marinade with broccoli, or 1 tbsp oil and some salt. Either grill broccoli directly on grills or on top of a piece of tinfoil.
