April Fools' Day Came Late (But Oh Did It Ever Deliver)

Hi, this is Kevin from the Pregnancy Resource Centre...

April Fools' Day Came Late (But Oh Did It Ever Deliver)

april fools prank

April Fools' Day came and went, and if you thought the whole pranking tradition was a little lame, think again. While it may be late coming (kind of like what happened to this student...), this joke was certainly worth waiting for.

In the video, courtesy of Today, an economics professor Stephen Barrows of Michigan's Aquinas College, has a policy that if students leave their phones on his class, they must be answered on speakerphone.

So it goes that student Taylor Nefcy complies. The rest is must-watch magic, especially the Professor's reaction.

Barrow is so taken, he quickly tells the student to turn off the speaker.

When the message continues, he publicly apologizes to Nefcy, who says, "That's okay. I've been expecting this..." before delivering the final sucker punch.

You've never seen a professor look so relieved.

This royal prank took a very tragic turn...

When Mommy Drinks Too Much

When Mommy Drinks Too Much

moms drinking wine

As busy moms, we joke about it. Is it 'wine o'clock' yet? we say. But a survey by Today has found that our drinking habits are no laughing matter.

It's not uncommon for playdates to involve mommies uncorking a special juice of their own. Experts are concerned that blowing off a little parenting steam is turning habitual for many moms, putting both them and their kids at risk.

RELATED: Are We Creating A Culture of Mombies?

Of those polled, almost 40 percent use drinking to help them cope "with the stress of being a parent." Interestingly, a third of respondents regarded at least one of their mom friends as having a drinking problem. (So we are likely pointing the finger at each other.)

Mom of three Stefanie Wilder-Taylor is one of those moms whose habit shot up to six glasses of wine a day.

“All of a sudden I was like, I don’t have an off switch,” said Wilder-Taylor whose a-ha moment came after she drove drunk with her kids in the car.

Sober for almost five years, Wilder-Taylor wants women to look in the mirror and admit it if they need help.

Are boozing mommies an acceptable social norm? Do any of your mom friends drink to excess?

So, you like your wine... This reveal may persuade you to cut back

This trend in women's drinking has us genuinely worried.

Rare Eye Condition Caught Via Facebook

It could be nothing...

Rare Eye Condition Caught Via Facebook

girls sight saved

There you are, yet another parent posting yet another cute photo of your kids on Facebook. *Yawn* But what if, instead of blindly 'liking' the picture, a user spotted something that might save your child?

According to an article in Today, Tara Taylor uploaded a shot of her daughter Rylee's cute new hair style to Facebook. So far, so innocuous. But a friend got in touch and alerted her to the strange glow coming from the three year old's eye.

“I just texted Tara and told her, ‘Hey, it could be nothing, it could just be the flash, but there could be something wrong with Rylee’s eye,’” said Stacy Carter.

Concerned, Rylee’s parents took more pictures, before taking their daughter to a retina specialist. Sure enough, the little girl was tested and diagnosed with the rare Coats disease, in which dilated blood vessels in the retina leak fluid in the eye. If undetected, the one-in-100,000 condition can cause retinal detachment and blindness.

Tara Taylor was stunned to find her daughter could not see out of her left eye. Though her vision is not likely to fully return, Rylee has regained some peripheral sight due to laser treatments and injections.

Her parents are simply grateful her friend was paying attention to her Facebook feed that day.

Wondering when to have your child's eyes tested? Read on...
