Young fans eager to see Finding Dory were in for a surprise. They were treated instead to their first R-rated trailer, Sausage Party.
Staff at a cinema in Concord, California were deeply apologetic for the gaffe after airing the adult-rated preview.
Staff at the Brenden Theatre called it an "honest mistake," because - notwithstanding the phallic nature of the hot dogs - Sausage Party is a cartoon. A cartoon liberally strewn with F-bombs., that is
"In the rush, one hard-working manager clicked the wrong movie," said Walter Eichinger, VP of operations for Brenden Theatres.
"It was caught soon, but not until that trailer was played. We regret it, apologize for it and we are not happy that it happened. We fully realize that this trailer is not appropriate for Dory and we would never schedule something like that."
Hey, it could have been worse. It could have been this.
Not everyone was broken up about the screw up. In fact, Sausage Party creator, Seth Rogen was totally tickled by the news.

The publicity gods shone down on that irreverent Canuck Rogen, whose film is slated for release later this summer.
No doubt there's a slew of parents booking their sitters this very minute, giddy at the fact that someone finally deigned to make a cartoon just for them. A cartoon that is decidedly - if not the Antichrist, then at least the antithesis of Pixar.
I for one cannot wait.
When it comes to embarrassing your teenager, Chris aka Burr Martin (no, not that Chris Martin) has just raised the bar incredibly high.
The Washington-based comedian and podcaster recreated his daughter's Snapchat selfies, to hilarious effect. Where his daughter Cassie aims for cute, Martin mostly just looks constipated and... something we can't quite put our finger on.
Points for his attention to detail, though. He's got it all down to a tee - from the fashions to the sultry pouts to the puppy-dog tilt, from the exposed beer gut down to the empty roll of toilet paper... No stone has been left unturned, no shred of dignity left intact. My personal favourite touch is his Sharpie-drawn tattoos and botched attempt at eyeliner.
Let's leave the makeup to her, shall we, Dad?
"So my daughter has been posting sexy selfies of herself and instead of telling her to stop, well, I thought of something better," Martin wrote on Instagram.
No doubt about it, Martin is a bad-ass dad. I hope this father-daughter unit had a good giggle over the photos and a lot of fun with the attention. No word on if his daughter is speaking to him, but we imagine with a comedian as a dad, it's likely she's used to the humour. And at any rate, they'll have some fun images for the requisite wedding "the way we were" slideshow if she gets married one day.

The downside of the digital age is having to re-watch the Disneys a gazillion times. The upshot is - sometimes - bonus features. Not so with Zootopia, though.
A deleted scene from the animated movie has parents counting their lucky chickens it stayed on the cutting room floor because the alternative would have been a much darker tale.
Initially, Zootopia was told from Nick's perspective. Then came the shift to Judy (and with it, the notion that you can defy the odds to become whatever you want to be - in her case, a bunny cop). In the final version, predator and prey were able to live in harmony because they had naturally overcome their biological instincts.

Not so in the special feature, Imagining Zootopia, in which Judy and Nick stumble into a "taming party." Imagine a "Bear" Mitzvah-type ceremony. A polar bear cub comes of age, thereby being fitted with a shock collar to control his predatory nature.
Admittedly, the deleted scene is kind of sinister and way too dark for the Disney masses. This is one scene you can be happy you don't have to explain to your kiddos afterwards.
The alternative Zootopia could quite easily gone the way of a dystopia. So glad it didn't.
