The Surprise of This Birthday Cake is Everything

Eat your heart out, Star Wars fans!

The Surprise of This Birthday Cake is Everything

Chewbacca Cake | YummyMummyClub.ca

Kids are such individuals. Even the young-uns like what they like, gender stereotypes be darned - which can leave us parents stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to birthday planning and the like.

Basically, if your daughter doesn't want a princess party (and if your son does), you're screwed and you have to work extra hard to think outside of the traditional toy box.

In case you hadn't noticed, the aisles are still very much set out according to the pink/doll/girl and blue/action/boys template.

But one three year-old girl was lucky to have her interests merged beautifully in a cake that combined her fandom for all things Star Wars and all things princess.

My amazing friend, Megan, came to the rescue and offered to make Chewy a beautiful cake dress. She nailed it!

Witness the hybrid of Chewbacca wearing a gown worthy of any Disney beauty in a recent Imgur post.

Kudos to Sophie's parents for using the Force for good. After no bakery could produce their custom order, their friend Megan came through.

Eat your heart out, Star Wars fans!

Child's Christmas Sweater Too Naughty for School

Merry P*ssmas Everyone!

Child's Christmas Sweater Too Naughty for School

Ugly Christmas Sweaters | YummyMummyClub.ca

There's no such thing as an ugly Christmas sweater on a little one, says yours truly. But there is such a thing as a too-naughty-for-school sweater, as one British mom discovered after sending her son to kindergarten wearing a questionable holiday motif.

At first glance, the knitted 'jumper' is in keeping with other festive cheesy efforts - until your gaze alights on the Santa in the corner.

Accidentally sent my son to school wearing his newly bought sweater. Didn't realize what Santa was doing until his kindergarten teacher pointed it out to me when I picked him up.

Why, yes, he's got his back turned to you and he's delivering a special message in a distinctly yellow font.

Naughty Santa probably overdid it on the rum and eggnog while on his run and had to make a pit stop to relieve himself in the snow...

We wee-sh you a Merry Christmas!

Of course the gem of a photo was captured on Reddit, where it went viral as swiftly than Santa's own fleet of reindeer.

Luckily the child's teacher had a sense of humour and didn't bother to point out the gaffe until the boy was picked up from school.

We can only wish they make these sweaters in adult sizes...

Adele Announces Highly Anticipated '25' Tour

Hello, it's me... coming to you

Adele Announces Highly Anticipated '25' Tour

Adele "25" North American Tour | YummyMummyClub.ca

Hello, it's me, I was wondering if you're still looking for the perfect gift for that hard-to-buy for person. Hello, can you hear me? Adele has just announced a North American tour, so needless to say, all your dreams have come true.

Hello, you don't have to travel to the other side to catch the British songstress who recently shattered sales records with her new album 25 - 4m in just two weeks, and 2.433m in under four days. (The previous record was held by NSynch in 2000 for inquiring minds.)

There's something about Adele, her soulful voice and heart-wrenching lyrics, that trancends and crosses so many boundaries. Such a quality comes along every few decades, a pop singer who is adored all over the world, by young and old, male and female... She's one of the rare artists both my husband and my mother have downloaded!

Adele (or Adeel, as my seven-year-old son calls her) is hitting a Canadian city near you and has enough dates to suit every schedule. Tickets go on sale from 17 December, so save the date and check her website for more info:

  • July 20: Vancouver — Pepsi Live at Rogers Arena
  • July 21: Vancouver — Pepsi Live at Rogers Arena
  • Sept. 30: Montreal — Bell Centre
  • Oct. 1: Montreal — Bell Centre
  • Oct. 3: Toronto — Air Canada Centre
  • Oct. 4: Toronto — Air Canada Centre
  • Oct. 6: Toronto — Air Canada Centre
  • Oct. 7: Toronto — Air Canada Centre

Hello from the outside, OK, at least I can say that I've tried to make this news as exciting as possible. Now get your credit card handy and your browser set to refresh.

I'm sorry if Ticketmaster has been guilty of breaking your heart. You've got ample warning, and if you missed out before (Adele's 21 tour was mired by vocal cord hemorrhage, which required surgery) don't let it happen again.
