Right at this moment, I am sitting in one of my favourite bars in the world—the Fairmont Royal York Library Bar.
It's my favourite for many reasons (not only for the yummy snacks and drinks and the amazing service!) but mostly because it reminds me of my grandfather who used to work on the CP Rail and the CP Rail used to own the Fairmont.
Today I'm in Toronto on business. I taught a seminar on using social media in sales and I've been on my feet for over 8 hours. Needless to say, I'm tired. I probably could have caught the 5:30pm train home, but instead it's 5:15pm and I am sitting across from Union Station with a VIA 1 ticket for 7:05pm.
But don’t worry—my kids aren’t starving while I’m lounging. While I’m here, my hubby is reheating my super easy recipe for Chicken Parmesan Meatballs which I posted below for you.
1 cup tomato sauce
3 tbsp. olive oil
3-4 tbsp. Parmesan cheese, grated

"Some things just go better with milk Mom," my five-year-old son told me last night. I had just put dinner in front of the kids and had simultaneously asked them what they wanted to drink while reaching in the fridge for the milk that wasn't there.
I had forgotten it, of course. In my post-work-pre-kid-pick-up mad dash through the grocery store, I had grabbed the things we needed for dinner and forgot the milk — in my defense it is always in the very back corner of the grocery store and so easily forgotten.
"We're all out of milk buddy, but Daddy is going to pick it up on his way home." I then offered a whole bunch of other beverage options at which point he made his "better with milk" comment.
It's taco night. In fact, my three-ingredient slow cooker chicken tacos night and he's right, tacos do taste better with milk.
While the kids' glasses sat empty waiting for Daddy to come home with the milk, I sat down to my regular lukewarm dinner and asked (genuinely curious as to what my kids would say) "what else tastes better with milk?" "Cheesy pasta!" my four-year-old daughter yells. By cheesy pasta she means my lightened up baked mac and cheese.
Our dinner table suddenly got very quiet with everyone's mouths full of chocolatey dessert and gulps of milk. Until my son finished his last bite and wiped his chocolate-covered face clean with the sleeve of his shirt and said "see Mom, I told you some things taste better with milk. But I think your cake tasted the best."
I couldn’t argue with him but maybe you can! Head on over to Walmart’s Milk Pairing page and cast your vote on the best foods to pair with milk. It’s super fun to do with the kids and you might be surprised at some of the popular answers—I know I was!
