Family Feeds Homeless At Cancelled Wedding

A Philanthropic Feast

Family Feeds Homeless At Cancelled Wedding

cancelled wedding

It's any bride-to-be's worst nightmare. The cold-footed groom pulls out at the last minute, leaving people scratching their heads and a whole barrage of contractors expecting to be paid for services no longer required.

However, an Atlanta-based woman didn't let shock and heartbreak ruin a perfectly good banquet. Her family went ahead and put on a decadent spread—for 200 homeless guests.

According to an article in Mommyish, after their daughter's wedding was called off Carol and Willie Fowler contacted Hosea Feed the Hungry, and transformed the cancelled nuptials into a philanthropic feast.

“We’re very pleased that she’s handling it so well,” Carol Fowler said of her daughter. “She was also very delighted to see and know that others had an opportunity to enjoy something, rather than just allow it to go to waste.”

The reception was reportedly such a success, the Fowlers plan to make an annual tradition of what they've dubbed 'The Fowler Family Celebration of Love.' Clearly the Fowlers know something about giving and receiving that this couple does not.

Bet the groom is probably kicking himself now. He would have been truly lucky to join such an amazingly generous-spirited clan...

Ever had a party fall through at the last minute? How did you deal?

Couple Undergoes IVF Live On TV

it could end in heartbreak

Couple Undergoes IVF Live On TV

ivf

For many couples struggling to conceive, undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) is an intense, largely private experience. In order to shed some light on their journey, a St. Louis couple are undergoing the fertility treatment... on live TV.

For the past nine years, 33 year olds Jessica Menkhausen and Derek Manion have suffered the highs and lows of trying to start a family. The couple has even put off their wedding in order to fund the costly fertility treatment.

Two ectopic pregnancies later, Menkhausen has decided to go public with her journey in the hopes of helping other couples facing the same emotional and physical roller coaster.

"Why would I want to share my story, knowing in the back of my mind it could very well end in heartbreak?" said Menkhausen. "If I had to answer in a word, I would call it 'enlightenment.' ... sharing my story is helping me deal with some of my own fears, by courageously facing them head on."

According to an article in Today Moms, Menkhausen's fertility issues began when she was a teen experiencing endometriosis. She then tells how the painful condition caused her to lose her fetuses and both fallopian tubes on two separate occasions.

Her story will be broadcast live on Today as part of the week-long series #BornTODAY.

If you are considering IVF, will you watch Menkhausen to see what's involved in the medical procedure?
