Review: GM Collin Creme Solaire Mineral SPF 25

Pros and Cons

Review: GM Collin Creme Solaire Mineral SPF 25

A few years ago GM Collin went through a complete rebrand and most of the collection’s formulas were updated. It was well known, in the industry, that the line had not had any real innovation for many years. In the last three years the company has really stepped up its quality. This is a brand to watch – while not everything they offer meets my exacting standards a great many of their products are really impressive.

My new favourite is:

Crème Solaire Mineral SPF 25 ($38 for 50mL)

This product is a great combination of all things skin care and sun care, and offered at a price point that is comparable to many drug store brands. This is a true cosmeceutical formulation combined with the safest and most natural sunscreens (not a single chemical sunscreen used). Ultra light, quick absorbing and ideal for the most sensitive skins.

Pros:
1. High concentration of Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide – two of the safest sunscreens available.

2. Lipid identical ingredients moisturize while softening the skin.

3. Vitamin E concentration is effective enough as an anti-oxidant protection and skin conditioning agent.

Cons:
1. A lot of repetitive silicone ingredients that are really not needed. Mostly used as slip agents the formula could be a little more matte.

2. Not designed to use around the eyes. It should be – this would make a great sunscreen for the eye area.

3. Label suggest reapplying every 2 hours – not sure why when an SPF 25 works for 4 hours. Is this just marketing?

Overall – for the price point and the protection offered this is a very good choice. Great moisture benefits with full sun protection. For more oily skins not a great option but for 90% of people this is a highly effective product.
