And coming at you from another planet—I mean, parenting era—is the story of a 60-year-old man who swore at a toddler, before slapping him in the face while on a flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta.
In a blessed twist of karma, AGC Aerospace and Defense employee Joe Rickey Hundley subsequently found himself gainfully unemployed, though it's unclear whether he resigned or was fired.
According to an article in the Huffington Post, Hundley, who had been on personal travel at the time, pleaded not guilty to assault charges. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of a year in jail.
As the flight descended, the 19-month-old boy started to cry from the change in altitude. Hundley allegedly told the boy's mother, 33-year-old Jessica Bennett "to shut that [N-----] baby up." He then proceeded to slap the tot in the face, scratching him below the eye. Because of course a good slap in the face will quiet any baby!
"He reeked of alcohol," she told KARE-TV. "He was belligerent, and I was uncomfortable."
Hundley also complained that her son was too big to sit on her lap, claimed Bennett. She couldn't believe it when he repeated the racial slur. (Though Bennett and her husband are white, their adopted son Jonah is black.)

You look for the "BPA-free" sign on all your baby's plastic bottles and dishes, but a new study questions whether bisphenol A (BPA) is as dangerous as previously maintained. In an article in Science Daily, researchers have analyzed 150 BPA exposure studies to see if the exposure is sufficient enough to mimic the effects of sex hormone estrogen in humans.
The findings would suggest that the amount of BPA in the "bloodstream of the general population is many times lower than blood levels that consistently cause toxicity in animals."
So researchers argue that contrary to what was previously posited, BPA exposure in babies isn't the equivalent of an estrogen dose from a birth control pill.
After studying the impact of BPA on 30,000 individuals, including women and infants, across 19 countries, researchers concluded that the human blood levels of BPA were "too far below levels required for significant binding to four of the five key estrogen receptors to cause biological effects." Apparently the concentration of BPA in the bloodstream is, in fact, low enough to pass a toxicologist's ability to detect it.

A Michigan nurse is suing her employer for race discrimination. A dad with a baby in Hurley Medical Center's neonatal intensive care unit requested that no 'coloured' staff care for his child. Apparently in making the request, he also lifted his sleeve and pointed out a Swastika tattoo. Charming.
And instead of politely telling him where to shove his prejudice, the hospital went along with it. Not only did they reassign another nurse to care for the baby, they posted the following note to the cot, saying: “No African America Nurses To Take Care Of Baby.”
According to an article Mommyish, nurse Tonya Battle had 25 years' experience under her belt. You'd think a parent in this circumstance would be more concerned with his baby's welfare, but then racism clearly warps your brain. Personally, I would have done my best to suck up to a nurse with this level of expertise.
Hard to believe this sort of garbage is still transpiring in 2013 America. As the article claims, the hospital administration should have pointed out that it doesn't "adhere to the KKK Manual Of Child Care."
I would have been sorely tempted to post the following warning, "No White Supremacist Dads To Raise Baby."
Incredibly, the nurse is still employed at the hospital.
