Dirt and mud roads? Where are we going?
Subaru wants to take five Canadian families to Mont-Tremblant, QC, to compete in a family-friendly, action-packed rally race! The goal of the rally is to challenge the families to maneuver the course quickly and accurately using the Forester’s one-of-a-kind features. Winner takes home an all-new 2014 Subaru Forester.
I’ve never been in a rally race but this would be so fun! Ok I’ll be honest — I have at some point been in the middle of traffic and thought — if only I could just cut through that foresty patch over there… Now I could do that type of driving legitimately! I would love to go at it up the hill, round the bend, through the mud. And the best part — I don’t have to wash the car in the end.
Subaru has long been known for their symmetrical full-time all-wheel drive vehicles, and the new 2014 Forester is putting the ‘sport’ back in SUV. The Family Rally is set to prove “… how everyday drivers can tackle a variety of terrain with confidence,” says Geoff Craig, director of marketing at Subaru Canada. You can even watch each family's rally run (and monitor their heart rates!) through the Forester Family Hub.
X-MODE is a new feature on the Forester — with the push of a button, the X-Mode allows the vehicle’s “…engine, transmission, AWD, brakes, and other components safely navigate through bad roads, slippery surfaces and even the steepest hills for maximum confidence.” Hill Decent Control works with X-Mode to maintain a constant speed when the Forester is going downhill. That way, you can focus on steering safely while the Forester manages the braking for you.

A recent YouTube video shows a woman on a scooter towing a baby carriage across a busy road. It’s earned comments along the lines of ‘most horrible parenting.’ Can you believe this video?! What’s not clear is whether or not there’s actually a child in the stroller.
The video is reportedly taken in China. The woman attempts to cross three lanes of traffic, narrowly missing a sedan. She lets the car pass, then makes her way to the furthest-right lane… for slow moving vehicles of course. This video caught my breath just like this one I watched about the infant ejected from a car.
Two things come to my mind: 1) I hope and pray there’s no child in that stroller and 2) I can’t imagine what she must be going through that would cause her to think that towing the stroller would be a good idea.
What’s your initial reaction?
