WATCH: Toddler Feels Rain For The First Time

toddler standing in rain

A girl feeling rain for the first time. That is all. What many of us take for granted—sometimes even find annoying—is nothing short of a eureka moment for a 15-month-old toddler named Kayden.

According to an article in the Daily Mail, back in December the little girl stepped out in to her California front yard, where she delighted in the simplest pleasure.

'Wow,' she kept repeating to herself, even crying when it's time to dry off inside.

No surprise that this video went viral. Posted on Nicole Byon's Vimeo page, the clip has been viewed more than 600,000 times.

Watch and try to remember just for a second what it's like to experience the world with fresh eyes. There is so much beauty out there that we take for granted, and simply gloss over, in our busy lives.

We could stand to learn a thing or two—or three—from our children...

Has your child ever made you see something through 'fresh eyes'? Spill it.

Are Plus-Size Disney Princesses A Possibility?

It's time for a positive plus-size character in the media

Are Plus-Size Disney Princesses A Possibility?

plus size princess

"Make Plus-Size Princesses in Disney Movies!"that's the message high school student Jewel Moore is sending Disney in a petition aimed to boost the confidence of "plus-size" girls.

According to an article in People, Moore's petition on Change.org has already achieved 18,500 signatures:

"I made this petition because I'm a plus-size young woman, and I know many plus-size girls and women who struggle with confidence and need a positive plus-size character in the media," said Moore. "Studies show that a child's confidence correlates greatly with how much representation they have in the media. It's extremely difficult to find a positive representation of plus-size females in the media."

It's true that Disney princesses have long had impossibly tiny waists and huge eyes. They are also cartoons.

While it would be great for filmmakers (and doll manufacturers for that matter) to present more average-looking heroines, should they create them in a variety of shapes and sizes to reflect our reality or stick to fantasy?

Would a plus-size character boost girls' self-esteem or encourage complacency when it comes to childhood obesity?

Another worthy princess petition that caught Disney's attention.

How To Turn A Nursery Into A Planetarium

the best/worst idea I ever had

How To Turn A Nursery Into A Planetarium

nursery planetarium

Did you stress when it came to decorating your baby's nursery? Well, one dad more than raised the bar with this amazing DIY project that took, in his estimation, 40 hours!

According to an article in Viral Nova, Reddit user DRC_Goes_PEWPEW shared his remarkable creation, which more or less involved turning his unborn son's room into a planetarium, thanks to some 596 "stars" (e.g. fibre-optic lights).

Check out the blow-by-blow account of how he did it—and the incredible finished effect.

If this isn't a labour of love . . . Then again, you could always just stick glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling. Works for me!

I'm sure his son will cherish the time his dad put in when he looks up at those stars every night.
