April is Autism Awareness Month and every April 2nd isWorld Autism Awareness Day. A friend of mine, Brianne Buckman- Kalechstein, is helping to spread the word with such fierce determination, passion and success that I feel compelled to share her story.
Jon Therriault and his wife from Toronto, Ontario, were thrilled to win the $1,000.00 Loblaw's Gift Card and Playtex Gift Basket! I'm sure they have already spent the gift card, but their now 13-month-old son will enjoy his new plush monkey for years to come.
In total this year, YMC gave away over 230 prizes! Here are the rest of our winners for 2013:
My daughter Lauren is a seventeen-year-old competitive gymnast. When she was in elementary school, I remember one of the moms striking up a conversation with me about the fact that I was allowing my daughter to specialize in one activity. She told me that she was a competitive swimmer when she was a child and thought that her parents made a mistake.
Picture this: A tall, dark-haired woman with bright blue eyes sits at her computer. She is surrounded by neatly piled gift cards for free gas, cash, shopping sprees at your favourite stores, free groceries and even a free trip or two. A refrigerater with a red bow around it stands in a corner of her office. At her feet are: computers, books, clothes, shoes, boots, cameras, gift baskets filled with everything imaginable and much, much more, all packaged, organized and waiting to be shipped out to the lucky winners of these prizes.
It's time for me to update you on what's been happening with our YMC contests since my initial list of 2013 YMC Winners. I would love to see your name within the winners' list so here's a reminder to check our contest page regularly for your chance to win one (or more) of our great prizes!
I recently attended my first ever women's retreat, organized by a group of women who call themselves The Spirituelle Divas. These ladies come together to support and empower one another. Their annual retreat took place at the The Nottawasaga Inn situated in a tranquil setting an hour north of Toronto, Ontario. The weekend consisted of women-led workshops that covered several topics all relating to self-love, as well as lots of yummy food, a bonfire, and nature walks.
YMC, in partnership with Kleenex Brand, has a really awesome contest running that I just have to tell you about. All you need to do to enter is share your story of kindness, and you could win a $1,000.00 prize. And get this! No matter where you live in Canada (excluding Quebec), our very own Erica Ehm will be knocking on the Grand Prize winner's door to present a huge Care Pack and prize valued at $1,000.00!
On my blog, The Life of a Prize Queen, I told you that I was waiting to hear back from our extremely lucky winner of the Secret $10,000 Disney Cruise and Pizza Hut Party Contest. Well, after my second email to our winner, I finally heard from Hayley Malloy of Oshawa, Ontario.
We all love going to the movies—sitting in a dark theatre beside our favourite people, popcorn in hand, and being immersed in an extraordinary story that is larger than life, presented on the silver screen before us. And do you know what makes it even better? A Cineplex SCENE card!
I love being The Prize Queen. I truly do. I feel like Santa Claus everyday of the year. But, every once in a while I have to admit, it can suck being the Prize Queen. I just sent an email to our unsuspecting winner of our biggest contest ever! Unless she is sitting at her computer at this very moment, this winner has no idea that she just won a Disney Cruise and Pizza Hut Pizza Party with the total prize value being $10,000.00!
Are you thinking about getting a dog? Are you wondering whether you should buy a dog from a breeder, pet shop or possibly rescuing a dog who is currently living at a shelter? If so, please read on.
The fifth annual PEDIGREE ADOPTION DRIVE campaign kicked off recently with the help of host Shawn Desman, Canada's Juno Award-winning and platinum selling singer/songwriter and producer. Together with PEDIGREE, Shawn's goal is to raise awareness about shelter dogs .
Math scares me. Believe it or not, even though I'm the Prize Queen, I rarely enter contests myself. One of the reasons is that I'm afraid I will get a phone call and be asked to answer unaided, a time limited, mathematical skill-testing question. What if I get it wrong, even if I do have a calculator stationed by every phone.
What...no contest? When it comes to popular boy bands there is no contest, as One Direction wins every time. North America's first ever 1D World Retail pop-up shop opened in Toronto on Saturday to hundreds of screaming tweens and teens, many of whom camped out overnight, just to make sure they were the first to enter. This store, which is only open until September 2nd, is filled to the brim with One Direction merchandise that the 1D fan in your home will love!
Recently, YMC teamed up with UPS, and together we created a panel of judges who were given the task of finding Canada's Most Inspiring Mompreneurs. Women from all over Canada submitted their personal stories, describing their incredible and inspiring journeys. You can just imagine how difficult it was to choose our top six Mompreneurs. Our panel has finally given us the list of six amazing women, even though we thought that all the submissions were awesome.
