Fun Halloween Printables

Decorate With Trendy Word Art

As I mentioned in my last post, I love decorating for the holidays. Halloween is a tricky one for me though. I tried decorating with traditional Halloween colours last year and, although it was pretty, it didn't really work with my style.

Pretty Pumpkin DIY Project

Easy, Inexpensive and Gorgeous

I am not a huge fan of fall colours but I do love decorating for the season and for the holidays. I also really believe that adding natural, seasonal elements as décor is a great, inexpensive way to freshen the look of a space. I just want it all to be pretty.

Orange and black don’t work with the colours in my home, so I took traditional fall items {pumpkins} and with a little time and paint, transformed them to suit my style.

Ta da!

Curl Up Under a Cozy Throw

Comfy, Warm and Gorgeous

There is nothing better to do on a cold day than curl up on the couch with a warm blanket and a good book, a great movie, or if I am really honest, a trashy reality TV show. I am rarely on the couch without a throw blanket, even in the summer. Not only are they comfy and warm, throw blankets are a simple and inexpensive way to introduce texture, pattern and colour to a space.

Here are my top 7 picks for gorgeous, cozy throws:

1. NuBe Green Eco Striped Throw $85.00

Decorating For Fall

Use Nature As Your Inspiration

I hate this time of year. It’s not that I hate fall so much as I hate the end of summer. But, I do love any opportunity to refresh the décor in my home. The soft yellows, reds and oranges of the changing leaves are perfect for adding some colour to your space. Not sure how to bring autumn colours inside? Leaf it to me….I found some gorgeous inspiration in my favourite place on the internet: Pinterest.

And my favourite way to decorate with leaves? Leaves you can eat!

Vintage Decor Shopping in Nova Scotia

My Favourite Shops on the Lighthouse Route

Some of my best childhood memories are from the drives I took with my parents along the Lighthouse Route each summer. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but the vintage and décor shopping is amazing.

This summer my mom and I recreated our trip, stopping at our old favourite shops and discovering some new gems.

These are must must-stop-shops on the South Shore of Nova Scotia {heading from Halifax to Bridgewater}:

1. Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard
30 Hwy 3
Hubbards, NS B0J 1T0

Dreaming of a Seaside Getaway

Memories of My East Coast Holiday

I spent much of the summer {so far} in Nova Scotia at my mom’s house by the ocean. Now that we are back home, I am missing the fresh air, the carefree days at the beach.

My east coast holiday reminded me how I have always wanted a cottage on the water with a dock and a canoe. Until that dream comes true, I can daydream that I will get an invite to one of these gorgeous spots. Anyone have a spare bed {or hammock} they want to lend me?

Vintage Décor Shopping

More Nova Scotian Decor Treasures

I took advantage of my boys’ nap time the other afternoon and went back to the shop where I found my first Nova Scotia treasures to take another look around and I found some more vintage loveliness. The prices are out of this world amazing.

Beaching, Celebrating and Shopping

In One of My Favourite Corners of the World

I can’t believe that today marks two weeks into my holiday in Nova Scotia. We have had so much fun celebrating milestones, playing at the beach and, of course, shopping.

We are lucky enough to be a short walk from my mom’s house to a beautiful beach that we usually have all to ourselves. This is where you can find us almost every day.

Last week my husband and I got away overnight to celebrate our anniversary at White Point Beach Resort, where we got married five years ago. It was a short but sweet escape.

Going Home to Nova Scotia

Home Decor Finds With An East Coast Feel

This past week we loaded up the boys and drove to the place I will always call home, Nova Scotia. There is no better place to be in the summer. This is where we spent our first morning:

Nova Scotia is one of my favourite places to shop for home décor, especially vintage and antiques. My mom and I found some amazing pieces yesterday that I will share in another post. Today, we went to Lunenburg. We go there every summer for the views, the food and the shopping. You can’t help but be inspired there.

Geovin Chairs

How you can win a customized chair for your home

If you read this recent post then you can tell I am in a patriotic kind of mood these days. I recently have had my eye on a Canadian furniture company thanks to my friends, Leigh-Ann Allaire and Vanessa J Francis so I was thrilled when they wanted to be a Wall Candy sponsor.

Canada From Eh to Zed

Canada Day Themed Décor

Canada Day is coming up and if you know me at all by now, you know I look for any excuse to change the art in my home. So when I saw the Canada themed decor in my latest Style at Home Magazine, I was inspired to take a peek on Etsy to see what fun art I could find to celebrate our home and native land.

Nice Cans

Crafty Project for Food Cans

Here is a super easy crafty project to give your old cans new life. I am talking food cans. Obviously. You are reading the wrong blog altogether if you are looking for ways to improve your other cans.

All you need is pretty paper, clean food cans, scissors {or a paper cutter} and double sided tape to take your cans from this:

to this:

How to:

Measure the can

Cut the paper to the exact height and two inches longer than the width; a paper cutter makes this so easy.

Re-Formed ArtCubes

Display Precious Keepsakes in Style

I am a very nostalgic person. For me things are not just things. They have meaning, they tell a story. They hold memories. I have so many items from my childhood; I have my boys’ first outfits and their second and their third. But all of these things are tucked away in labelled bins in my basement. I want them out where they make me smile.

The only problem is: how do I display momentos in a pretty way? How do I make them not look like clutter?

Fun Children's Bedding

Cute bedding with a great message

It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Ikea and when I came across this Torva children’s bedding I fell in love.

And I have a feeling that maybe, just maybe, it would finally convince my boys eat some vegetables!

Not only is the design fabulous, the message behind the bedding is pretty darn great too:

Royal Style

Decor Inspired By William and Kate's Upcoming Wedding

Okay I admit it. I am excited for the royal wedding. As a girl who always dreamed she would grow up to be a princess {hello, my name means princess for crying out loud} a royal wedding has me daydreaming about all things royal. Including decor.

I know, I know. You are thinking, who wants a tea set with William and Kate’s faces plastered all over it. But the royal wedding has not only inspired collector spoons and tea cozies. It has introduced me to some really fun and stylish royal design.
